The new, overhauled, retooled, AMAZING GoldDerby arrives in just days. That includes EVERYTHING about this website, including its design, functionality, predictions — and these forums, too.
GET READY NOW. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. The new site will begin appearing next Tuesday, April 12. VERY EXCITING — we’ve had a vast team of tech wizards working around the clock around the world (literally) since last summer to create our dream version of this wonderful website.
Don’t worry about your old forum posts or your predictions. They will automatically be imported into the new pages that are much more mobile friendly. But DO prepare for glitches and snafus that will be inevitable.
ONE THING YOU MUST DO BEFOREHAND — very important. If you sign in automatically using Twitter or Google, PLEASE sign out of the site NOW and then sign back in using your same Twitter or Google method. That will update your login code so we can transfer it to the new site. If you fail to do this, the new site will not recognize your ID and it will create a new profile for you — one that will not be connected to your old predictions or forum posts. To prevent that from happening, please log out of the site and then back in again using Twitter or Google any time between now and next Monday. It’ll just take a minute — do it once and that’s all. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS IF YOU SIGN IN USING FACEBOOK or if you log in typing a username/ password.
Stay tuned. I will have more info in the next few days….April 4, 2016 at 8:08 pm #662087
Wtf? So I have to log out and can’t get back on until next week?April 4, 2016 at 8:25 pm #662089

NOOOO! Just log out and immediately log back in — just takes a few seconds — then everything is fine. You only need to do it once sometime between now and next Monday. And that’s ONLY if you log in using Twitter or Google. This is not necessary if you log in using Facebook or by inputting your Username / Password.April 4, 2016 at 9:30 pm #662093
Sounds fun. Looking forward to it, even though most of the time when websites “update” themselves, it’s usually more convoluted and pointless, like YouTube.April 4, 2016 at 9:47 pm #662094
Cool news Tom. Any update on the Derbyite Awards?April 4, 2016 at 9:56 pm #662097
All I care about is the functionality, given how very very often I get irritated by a post not going through or being eaten/it being difficult to edit/being redirected to a blank page, etc.April 5, 2016 at 5:27 am #662126

They’re on hold because not enough people offered recommended nominees when we asked for them …April 5, 2016 at 10:10 am #662167
^ You may want to actually promote that they are happening then/that you are asking for nominees. I had no idea you asked for anything.April 5, 2016 at 11:20 am #662178
Yeah I never heard of recommended nominees being asked for and I log in everyday.April 5, 2016 at 12:59 pm #662211
Me neither. If I have to promote I will.April 5, 2016 at 1:35 pm #662217
Looking forward to it!April 5, 2016 at 2:41 pm #662224
If we log in manually from the site we don’t have to do anything new right? we can keep using the same username and password we use now?April 6, 2016 at 6:13 am #662306

Yes, correct. We just need you to log in and out of the site one more time to make sure we’ve captured your correct infoApril 7, 2016 at 7:22 am #662506
Cool! Is it going to look different on an iphone as well?April 7, 2016 at 7:36 pm #662617

The whole website will look VERY different. You will not recognize any of the old site here — at least not a month from now. Starting on Thursday, April 14, the relaunch will be gradual. First, the forums and article pages will be overhauled, then later, after a week or two, the prediction center and your personal profile pages, etc.
