I can’t seem to find a previous thread for this HBO show, but I am in the process of watching the six episode first season and I am really impressed. It is a great acted show. Because it is only six episodes, is it eligible for the Comedy Series categories? June Squibb was fantastic in her episode and would make a great Guest Actress nominee for this show over The Millers or Girls.

I am glad it is getting a second season to see what it does. Did anyone else catch this one?

Yes! I loved Getting On. I thought it was a hilarious six episodes despite the initial criticism for the opening “fecal matter” scene. I loved all of the performances besides Mel Rodriguez (who had his moments). I think June Squibb has a shot of getting a nomination for it if it’s recognized by Emmy voters. She did really great.

I have and I’m glad it’s returning for a second season. And Mel Rodriquez is especially cringe as the person above me pointed out.

I’m finishing the first season and loving it! Borstein and Nash are amazing, with Metcalf not far behind! I would be so glad if they would be able to get a nomination.

Metcalf is a long shot, but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. I mean, she won like 3 consecutive Emmys at one point, so she’s obviously a favorite amongst them.

and she only lost that emmy in 07′ because of her bad submission.

HBO has mailed “If You’re Going to San Francisco”, “Dumped” and “Nightshift” to voters, omitting the pilot.

I’m not surprised about the omission. The voters would probably discard it after the pilot’s opening scene.

Nightshift was an spectacular episode, I can’t say it was an excellent
piece of writing because this show has some problems, but it was really a
good written and a standout episode. Metcalf’s husband was pretty
    fantastic in it.

Somewhat disappointed that “Make Someone Happy”, my favorite episode of the season, wasn’t included.

Is that the episode where the elderly couple are having sex?

Different character different era different circumstances.

I’m well aware of that, and did specifically say it was a long shot, but unless you haven’t noticed, most awarding bodies have their favorites.
