Robin Wright is #1 for sure, the rest aren’t nearly as wrong: Andre Braugher, Adam Driver, OITNB in Series, Jon Hamm, Maggie Smith, Mayim Bialik, GOT in Series, Modern Family in Seres and Julie Bowen.

Ok. I gave the actors some slack if they didn’t have a clear tape to choose from. The big offenders are the contenders who blatantly had a winning tape and chose something different. #1 is the absolute worst submission:

    10. Andre Braugher
    9. Jon Hamm (he had a better episode to choose from)
    8. Adam Driver
    7. Julie Bowen
    6. Edie Falco
    5. Matt LeBlanc
    4. Gary Cole
    3. Christine Baranski
    2. Robin Wright
    1. Maggie Smith

TX. I’m late watching a lot of the submissions, but I saw Edie Falco’s and you’re right — Not much going on there. Also, Lena Dunham’s — she’s OK in but very annoying.

You’re gonna have to expand this to a top15 or a lot of people will have a lot of trouble ranking, there are just so many this year….I’ve just watched comedy supporting actor and actress and I already have: Driver, Braugher, Burrell, McKinnon, Bialik, Bowen, Chlumsky and I know that Baranski, Wright and Hamm screwed up. Dunham is great in Beach House we all know she had much better. I’m sure the list will keep on growing as I go along…

    1. Robin Wright (everyone was saying Chapter 17 since it aired, she went from winner to long shot, as bad as it gets, she also admits she doesn’t watch her own work so someone picked this for her).

    2. Maggie Smith (she was fine, but she had better, and worst of all it barely highlighted Joanne Frogatt who I still think could have upset with some help from Smith, Smith like Wright doesn’t watch her own work so someone picked this for he, stategically dumb to waste a 90 minute submission that doesn’t highlight either of the shows 2 nominees).

    3. Adam Driver (could have won with a stronger tape, he’s barely in it and not funny)
    4. Edie Falco (she’s right, she’s not funny)
    5. Jon Hamm (WAKE UP JON!  No wonder he keeps losing, his performance was sleepy and lacked energy, no wonder these Mad Men actors lose, was everyone in the 60s this boring?)

Edie Falco had an outstanding season of Nurse Jackie and should have submitted “Love Jungle,” “Sidecars and Spermicide,” or “Sisterhood”-all better showcase performances than “Super Greens.”  It’s almost like Showtime just picked an episode randomly and submitted it for her.   Jon Hamm  (or AMC) should have easily submitted “The Monolith.”  I still don’t think he would have won, but it was a better performance by Hamm than “The Strategy.”

Margulies and Baranski had good material in The Last Call, but they both have better episodes to submit!

I definitely agree with Wright (should have gone with the interview episode) and Smith (should have gone with the bronchitis episode).

Dylan, why do you have Tina Fey on your list?

Hmm, the interesting thing to note about Edie Falco’s episode submission is how it’s described on Wikipedia:

“Grace is picked up for shoplifting, and spoils Kevin’s secret. Zoey
helps out the gay community and Dr. Prentiss cops some flack.”

Jackie isn’t even mentioned in the summary! That’s never a good sign for an Emmy submission.

She’s barely in her episode, and she takes a backseat to the new castmembers. The only inspired sketch of the evening was the Girls parody.

Not a lot of screentime, not a lot of impact. Although, granted, it does seem weird to pick on someone who only had one episode to submit. I should probably reconsider that placement because she submitted her only episode and she got nominated!

I have edited in Andre Braugher, a performance I do not care for. He would have had a much better shot with the finale…
