Why don’t they give later episodes of GoT, Veep, or Silicon Valley? Is it simply because they’re still airing? If they only see the first three episodes, they don’t get a full arc. I guess that they’re trying to pique the interest, but they used a different strategy elsewhere, like Girls and True Detective.

Why are they submitting Eastbound and Down and True Blood at all? There is no chance of a nomination, but instead they just take up space in this bundle. Not the best move strategically IMO.

Not to worry, HBO sometimes sends an addendum package of films, specials or series episodes for consideration after they air but before the voting deadline.

As far as submitting certain long shots for consideration in the box, sometimes it’s more about showing corporate support to a producer or director than displaying brilliant Emmy strategy.

True Blood still got an art direction nomination last year.

Game of Thrones, Veep and Silicon Valley will not be affected by only sending earlier episodes.

Interesting; the three Girls FYC eps are the same 3 eps that AV Club gave an A, and the same episodes that IMDB rates at least an 8. I guess there’s much consensus.

Does this automatically make these episodes as offical submissions for nominations?

And by the way, the Boardwalk Empire episodes (Erlkonig and Farewell Daddy Blues) for me are better than Game of Thrones’ (The Lion and the Rose and Breaker of Chains).

    I agree, they are.
The season itself I wasn’t a big fan of it, but those two episodes were very very good.

HBO sent out these episodes to give voters samples of their series.

These episodes will however likely show up on more ballots (editing and the like) than episodes not sent out.
