Netflix has given a 13 episode to a new series starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Sounds a bit on the dramadey side, but any new contenders are welcome.

This sounds like a great pairing but it’s not screaming comedy to me. Hopefully its good.

This is amazing news! Surprised it’s not being talked about more here. Not thrilled at all that it’s on Netflix, but the premise and stars all sound excellent. Jane Fonda winning a lead comedy actress Emmy would be everything.

Gonna be so sad if Dolly Parton doesn’t make a guest appearance!  But I’ll get over it to see these ladies together again.  BTW they did more than just “9 to 5” together.  In 1981 Fonda & Parton were guests on Tomlin’s special “Lily: Sold Out” which won the outstanding variety, music or comedy program emmy award.

Not a fan of the premise, but these two ladies can do no wrong. If their gay husbands stick around as regulars, their storylines had better be good.

This looks great! I’ve always wanted Marta Kauffman to make a new series!

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

I’m looking forward to this. I hope it’s a major Emmy player whenever it comes out.

I’d really love to see how Sheen and Waterston play off of each other as a couple. Also, hadn’t realized Brooklyn Decker was involved with this. Huh. Well, I liked her well enough on New Girl.

Joe Morton, Geoff Stults, & Barry Bostwick Join Netflix’s Grace & Frankie
7:00 AM PDT 8/22/2014 by Lesley Goldberg

    Scandal Emmy-winner
Joe Morton, Enlisted‘s Geoff Stults, and Spin City‘s Barry Bostwick have boarded the comedy starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The single-camera comedy centers on nemeses Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin), whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands announce they are in love with each other and plan to get married. The women, much to their dismay, find that their lives are permanently intertwined and, much to their surprise, find they have each other.

Stults will recur as Mitch, Mallory’s (Brooklyn Decker) husband of seven years. The character is an OBGYN and father of two who is always on call and trying to do the best he can with juggling his husband/father and doctor duties. Stults, who most recently starred in CBS’ comedy pilot Cuz-Bros, toplined Fox’s short-lived critical darling Enlisted. The comedy remains in contention for a second season at Yahoo Screen. Stults is repped by UTA and Thruline.

Morton will appear as Jason, one of Frankie and Sol’s (Sam Waterston) oldest, dearest friends. In future episodes he will not only help Frankie navigate the world of divorce, but he will also help Sol grow more comfortable being “out.” Morton, who is poised to return to Scandal during its upcoming fourth season, will next co-star in TNT’s new drama series Proof. He’s repped by TalentWorks and Vanguard Management.

Bostwick is set as Bill, an old friend of Grace and Robert’s (Martin Sheen) who is also newly divorced and knows exactly what Grace is going through. The question is: Could he be the answer to her problems? The role marks a reunion with Stults and Morton after Bostwick guest-starred on Fox’s Enlisted and ABC’s Scandal, respectively. (Yes, Scandal fans, Fitz’s father and Olivia’s dad are both going to be on the new Netflix comedy.) He’s repped by TalentWorks and Vanguard Management.

Grace and Frankie is slated for a 2015 debut and is written and created by Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris (TBS’ Sullivan & Son, According to Jim, Home Improvement). Kauffman, Morris, Paula Weinstein, Fonda, Tomlin and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross are on board to executive produce. Tate Taylor (The Help) also serves as executive producer and will direct the first episode.

Can you imagine the showdown for the comedy actress Emmy next year if we had

Julia Louis-Dreyfus for season 4 of Veep
Amy Poehler for the final season of Parks and Recreation
Lily Tomlin for Grace and Frankie
Jane Fonda for Grace and Frankie
Taylor Schilling for Orange is the New Black

All 5 ladies would be so competitive. Gah!

Oh shit yeah, forgot about Kudrow. Holy hell, that will be the most competitive category since I don’t know when.
