Any guest actors from comedy or drama that should’ve been nominated for an Emmy and that weren’t? I always wished Shelley Long put herself on the ballot for consideration for her first appearance in Modern Family (episode: “The Incident,” season 1) because that to my mind was an absolute slamdunk Emmy win for a guest actor (it resembled Christina Applegate’s win for Friends in 2003). Long I think then submitted herself for consideration but was never nominated for any later appearances in MF… Understandable, since none of the later spots came close to the hilarity of her first appearance. I also think Mary Louis Wilson was robbed of a nomination for her guest spot in the “Double Date/Mom” episode of Louie‘s first season. What a hilarious performance! Any others?

Louise Fletcher should have been nominated for her guest appearances on the second season of Shameless.

In fact, she should have won.

Agree about Sherri Shepherd on 30 Rock. She’s such an underrated actress. I think if that episode had aired a couple seasons earlier, when 30 Rock was much better about getting people not named Elaine Stritch nominated for guest Emmy’s, she would have been nominated.

There are so many from 30 Rock.

Matthew Broderick and Sherri Shepard stand out though.

It boggles my mind that an Emmy magnet like Julia Louis-Dreyfus couldn’t even land the nomination for Arrested Development.

I also always think of Amy Ryan and ger guest stint on The Office. Completely snubbed multiple times.

Another one is Mira Sorvino and her guest role on Will & Grace as the only woman Will ever slept with. Sorvino hasn’t done much since her Oscar win, but this is one time where she did something she normally doesn’t do (main guest role on a sitcom) and completely nailed an Emmy winning performance. Then didn’t even get the nomination.
