The Hollywood Reporter polled over 2800 people in the industry for their favourites (I think five each).  The list is on a single page and each entry has some interesting tidbit that is worth a read and most link to the original pilot review (they did not like Mad Men).  I will not post the whole list to leave some suspense, but I will list where current shows landed.  What missed?  Deadwood, Louie, NYPD Blue, The Shield, miniseries, late night
    91. The Americans (FX)
    90. Arrow (CW)
    88. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX)
    81. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC)
    79. Sesame Street (PBS)
    77. Scandal (ABC)
    74. 24 (FOX)
    65. Family Guy (FOX)
    57. The Good Wife (CBS)
    52. True Detective (HBO)
    49. Orphan Black (BBC)
    46. Veep (HBO)
    45. Homeland (SHO)
    44. Downton Abbey (ITV)
    42. Castle (ABC)
    34. South Park (COM)
    33. Sherlock (BBC)
    26. Orange is the New Black (NET)
    25. The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
    24. The Walking Dead (AMC)
    21. House of Cards (NET)
    16. Arrested Development (FOX)
    14. Modern Family (ABC)
    7. Saturday Night Live (NBC)
    4. Game of Thrones (HBO)

Seinfeld being at #5 is disappointing, because I think it is the greatest show of all time, but this is a public list, so I kinda understand that and I am grateful its in the Top 10. But its unfortunate that Game of Thrones (a great show) is above it, and Friends, which I find very overrated, is #1. But kudos to them for recognizing brilliant shows like Fawlty Towers, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Curb Your Enthusiasm, all of which very rarely ever feature in lists like this. It is a very mixed list, with some great choices and some terrible ones, but its passable.

In any other year The Cosby Show would have made the list as it does any other list. Who are they fooling? lol

And this Friends lovefest needs to end.

So, basically, are Emmy voters not the industry?

It is starting to get ridiculous the ignorance towards “Southland”.

No. 112: The Cosby Show (NBC, 1984-90)

If the poll had been done two years ago, this show likely would have landed in the top 20, maybe even the top 10. Still, affection for the show is so strong that even after some 50 women have accused eponymous star Bill Cosby of sexual assault, it almost made the list.

Do you guys think this ranking could reflect in any way the new Emmy system? Sentiment for GOT is strong. Modern Family is ranked real low, in the top 15. If these are hollywood’s favorites, maybe they’ll all vote for it anyway.

Friends at number one is a joke.  I like Friends, but I do not get the massive love for this show.

Where is L.A. Law?  Where is Maude?  Where is The Jeffersons?  Where is Soap?

Also, why is The Golden Girls only listed at #48?

Genuinely surprised to see those fan base behind TWD and Orphan Black.   Also, I can’t upvote, again. 🙁

Good mix of commercial shows and critical darlings. Obviously a reflection of the shows they love.

Shocked to see Orphan Black so high on the list. Meaning it is popular.

Love the fact that The Wire is so high. It deserves all the late acclaim it is getting.

    And hello Downton Abbey!

    I did become very curious
if Silicon Valley would place once Veep showed up at #46.  True Detective made the list after just two seasons, including one panned.  Modern Family being ranked the best sitcom to air in the last decade was troubling, but this list also had Castle
in the all-time top fifty so maybe we should not take it too
    seriously.

Love the fact that The Wire is so

    Seeing as
would at least be in the top three if this were a critics’ list, its
placement struck me as low.  It is below Orange is the New Black, The Big Bang Theory, The Walking Dead, House of Cards and Modern Family after all.

Speaking of The Wire and seeing it so high on this list. It’s interesting that the show did badly at the Emmys, but its proof that the show just took a while to get out there. It’s an example of a show that just became more popular through time, and the Emmy snubs allow us to see that.

The Wire only won a TCA Award for Heritage, so even the critics were a bit slow on the uptake.

I wish Frasier were higher than 40, not because I think it would need to be #1 (though that is where I would put it) but mainly because there were so many shows higher on the list that far exceeded where their actual placement should be.
