Netflix is currently in production on a sixth and final season of House of Cards, the landmark drama that signaled its aggressive push into original programming.

The final run of House of Cards, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as ruthless and ambitious beltway couple, will debut its last 13 episodes in 2018. Executive producers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, who replaced exiting creator Beau Willimon last year, are both expected to return as co-showrunners.

    Thank God.

Should have been snubbed years ago.

It is their first show. And it was actually good once.

6 seasons is a fine run for the series. I’ll miss it when it’s gone.

I’d guess that part of Netflix’s decision to end the show and cut its losses has to do with Kevin Spacey specifically and the issues coming to light about past sexual misconduct with actor Anthony Rapp. He’s also recently outed himself as a gay man, conflating issues that shouldn’t be conflated, but that’s another story.

    Here’s the link:

I figured we’d probably get one more season of House of Cards anyway. Since it’s ending next year, what could Kevin Spacey’s chances at the Emmys look like?

We’ve seen TV academy members in the past showing sentiment to overdue veterans like Jon Hamm on their swan song(s). But with Spacey’s sex allegation going on, could that hurt his chances? It obviously didn’t hurt Casey Affleck at the Oscars this past year.

Yeah I was partially kidding. I know it really did lead the way for other streaming shows, but I hate the idea of it being this very important show like people try to paint it

Netflix was “deeply troubled” by Spacey allegations, leading to show cancellation:

It was never more than a mediocre show with some highlights and a fierce Robin Wright, even in it’s first couple seasons. It was “important” in the sense that it showed a streamed series could have some pop culture and awards impact.

Spacey is done when it comes to anything for the foreseeable future, especially if more come forward. And I say about damn time. I’ve heard more crazy sh*t about him throughout the years than even Weinstien and Singer.

HOC was never as big of an Emmy or critical juggernaut as Mad Men and Spacey really isn’t seen as overdue as Jon Hamm was.

And I know it was less than a year ago, but we are living in a completely different Post-Weinstein era in Hollywood regarding sexual harassment/assault in the industry.

And I hate to be that guy, but Spacey’s allegations are far worse and serious that Affleck’s were. And Affleck is getting nowhere near the level of press Spacey is getting now.

My bet is the show and Spacey get snubbed, but Wright probably stay in

Umm no. What Singer does is absolutely despicable. Him, Ancier, Geffen… gay men are as bad as straight men when it comes to overusing power. As for straight guys I hope Ratner will get what it’s coming for him. Fat little fucker. There’s also Bay and such. Oh, and Cohen and Berlanti but they haven’t done the shit that Singer does. Or maybe I’m just not aware of it.
And Spacey coming out? Really? It shocks me as much as Travolta coming out. And we know why he did it NOW. But it didn’t work. Oh, and there are other big A-list guys waiting in line for being outed as predators. Trust me, it’s just a beginning. I could throw some names already but I want you to have some surprises but if you’re industry you probably won’t be surprised.

Ranking levels of sexual abuses is pretty shitty in any context.

I probably shouldn’t have said “worse”. However, Spacey’s behavior has been persistent for decades. I’ve heard that he as well participates in these “parties”. That he’s threatened physical harm to men (in the 90’s) who have tried to out him. That he has threatened to have people pulled from their work if they didn’t give up some ass and of course some were underage. That he has physically assaulted other individuals. Now, he merely pays people off. Gus Van Sant is rarely a name mentioned in these things. But he’s another one. Though who knows how extensive it is with him.

Also, Singer identities as bi now (he changed up his identity when the last line of allegations came and when he decided to marry a woman to have a baby). And Spacey isn’t gay, honey. According to him he has merely “chosen to live as a gay man”.

I’m not saying that Affleck is defendable or what he is being accused of isn’t awful, but I’m saying many people in the Academy who voted for Affleck (and many people in the Industry as a whole) wouldn’t have voted for him if he was accused of what Spacey is being accused of.
