I would consider having him for one final scene where he dies. And Wright and Kelly take over the show for this final season. There way too many good castmembers left to carry the show for 13 more episodes.

I can imagine many people behind the scenes won’t treat him like they don’t know him or like he can’t come back for just a day. It’s up to Netflix to see if they allow them to do this. Which they should. The people who put 6-7 years of hard work into this shouldn’t be punished with a shitty death storyline and neither should the audience.

Unless Spacey decides to live in this shame bubble from now on and won’t agree to any of this. Which I doubt.

I wonder if they were planning on killing Frank anyways. It was done in the original, so I bet that would’ve happened in the final episode. Now all they have to do is flip it. If they want to be messy, it doesn’t need to be a drawn out thing (even though I would like to see a funeral). It could be mentioned in passing as Claire is deep into her run as POTUS.

House of Cards is Frank Underwood there’s no show without him, Netflix should just kill the show.

That actually makes me a little hopeful for the show improving in quality. Since season 2 Claire was the only thing making the show watchable.

The show has moved toward being a vehicle for Claire this last season, kill off Frank and let it run with Claire. She’s the more interesting character anyway.

They already committed the money might as well let it finish.

Claire is an interested character just like Carmela Soprano, Skyler White and Betty Drapper, none could carry their respective show because the male leads were the stars of The Sopranos, Braking Bad and Mad Men.

It would be hilarious if they just recast Frank Underwood with a completely different actor and then just had the show continue on as if nothing happened

I only watched the first three seasons of HoC, but I don’t agree with this assessment. Carmela was a good enough character and Falco a great enough actor that she could have carried her own show, but it would have been nothing like The Sopranos. Skyler was too one-note. Jones’ limited range wouldn’t allow her to carry a fish stick. And all three of those women were too domesticated and removed from the “hook drama”. Claire would be more comparable to Peggy or Jesse or Christopher. Her desire for political power and her ladder climb has been pretty well mapped out. She can be given the reigns, and while it would be different, the show wouldn’t completely turn into a different entity. And considering that Claire and Wright’s performance have always been the best things about HoC the show could perhaps improve.

First season Claire has been the best, after that it has been one silly plot after another…Her character lacks the charisma, charm and stamina that made Frank Underwood a great villain. Regarding the quality of the series I doubt that it can be improved because the technical part of the show has always been high level, it is in the writing room where the problems of HOC reside since season 3 (maybe even before that). The only thing that keep Claire as one of the best part of House of Cards is that Robin Wright is a great actress in it.

I am more interested in the next season of “HoC” now than I was after watching season five, because the prospect of a Claire-centric season is much better than whatever their plan was to shoehorn Frank into the action. Claire has been the superior character for quite some time and Robin Wright continues to bring new layers to the performance. Still, it’s definitely the show’s time to end and I don’t really have an issue with them putting together a final season to wrap up the story without Spacey present. I think it is possible and at this point, it would make sense to do that for the sake of the other cast and crew members, who would all be out of a job otherwise.

I have never found anything appealing about Frank or Spacey’s performance. I don’t think Claire is a well-written character nor do I think Wright’s ever been truly awards-worthy (there are too many quality leading performance for an inconsistent, borderline supporting character on a terrible show to win). She’s just the best thing about HoC and her transitioning to the true lead is not comparable to the people you compared her to. Plus, it’s likely the final season anyways. Might as well give it a go to wrap things up.

Kevin Spacey is House of Cards, so wrap it up with a movie just to give viewers some “closure”. I do not see Spacey returning.
