It is known that that there are three types of people recognized by the ATAS:

    • The ones they shower with awards, mostly on name-only (eg. Betty White, Cloris Leachman)
    • The ones who win awards deservedly (eg. Jim Parsons, Claire Danes)
    • The ones who are always nominated but never win (eg. Jon Hamm, Steve Carrell)

Some current actors are the brunt of many TV fans’ despair as they are nominated year after year but never win. Steve Carrell, Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm were nominated year after year and are critically acclaimed for their performances. Yet, they have yet to speak from the winner’s podium. There are several more that exist.

My question is, how can these repeated losers finally win an Emmy? Options possible are:

    • What can they do on their shows to win?
    • What shows could they appear on to win a Guest Acting award?
    • Writing? Directing?
    • TV Movie and Miniseries perhaps?

    Opinions?

This is it I guess. Look at Jon Hamm. He goes for producing Mad Men this year, the only year where they lost the Emmy.

Guest acting on a popular comedy seems to do the trick, recently it’s worked for Kathy Bates and Neil Patrick Harris.
