We had a lot of upsets last year. There are always a lot of upsets at the emmys. How many upsets are you predicting this year?

I’m predicting 2 upsets in Drama (harris, forggatt), Comedy (bowen, ferguson) and movie/mini (benedict, writing for sherlock)…

Last year, after watching all submitted episodes, I had Hamm, Carell, and Linney winning.    In additoin, I did not think that Friday Night Lights would take the writing award.    It is sometimes hard to make predictions now when there are so many upsets.   It is apparent that sometimes voters are looking at various factors when voting.     The only actors I feel comfortabnle predicting are Julianne Moore and Jessica Lange.

You all are using the term “upset” very loosely.

In what world are Julie Bowen or Benedict Cumberbatch upsets?  According to the racetrack odds, those two are actually the frontrunners!  Julie Bowen even won last year.

The biggest upsets that I am predicting are Jon Cryer and Melissa McCarthy.  Can you imagine this forum if both of these two CBS laugh track performances take it?  Well, brace yourselves.  Alternatively, can you imagine how happy people will be if Louis C.K. and Amy Poehler win?

My definition for an upset was out of the top 2 or 3 in the racetrack odds, except for Jared Harris b/c I think it’s an upset in terms of he will be the first acting winner for Mad Men and it is his first and only nomination. And in MINI Writing and Directing, almost everyone is prediction Game Change so I think anything else is an upset.
