The Razzies don’t cover TV, so let’s do it for them. In a separate thread, I asked you to blast away at TV drama series. Now let’s do comedies.

    Please
list your 5 nominees for Worst TV Comedy Series — overlapping the Emmy
eligibility period of June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2012 — and list which
    show is the WORSTEST.

    Hmmm… Here is my list:

    1. Are You There, It’s Me Chelsea— There were so many things wrong with this mild, neutered adaptation of Chelsea Handler’s comically genius book “Are you There Vodka, It’s Me Cheslea” I can’t even start.  First off, the material was clearly not meant for a network-TV audience, and highlights one of my frustrations with Chelsea. She has talent in spades but obviously is content on selling out. I think she should have sold this concept to a cable network like Showtime, Starz or HBO (I mean STARZ could use a talent like Handler helming it’s shows), and allow the content of the book to remain mostly unedited.     Also the casting was bad, I mean, really, Laura Prepon as Chelsea Handler? Worst off, it was just not funny. It was lame, boring and horribly cast.

2.!Rob!-  Oh boy.   Who at CBS thought that giving Rob Scheider; the “genius” behind “Duce Bigelow” and the former star of NBC’s “Men Behaving Badly” a sitcom and pairing him with stoner-icon past his prime Cheece Marin was a good idea?  This sitcom was offensive on so many levels.

    3. Mike & Molly—- Sorry to say, but this is one of the most horrendously lame sitcoms to air on CBS since “The King of Queens” era.   Melissa McCarthy and Swoosie Kurtz are the only things that can possibly save this lame series, that is ultimately not worth the talent of it’s leading lady.

4.Two and A Half Men— Sorry, but This show has never been funny, and probably never will be.    Ashton Kutcher is somebody I like, but he can’t save this sinking ship based entirely on fart jokes, sex jokes and endless misogyny.

    5.  Last Mand Standing— Tim Allen as the voice of the American male? I’m sorry If I don’t want to watch that.   Sadly, it’s not even the nice, endearing Allen that headlined one of the top sitcoms of the 90’s, it’s a mean, arrogant and clearly angry version.

    4. Are You There, It’s Me Chelsea

    5. The Office (For thinking it can go on without Carrell)

    2 Broke Girls
    Rob!
    Men at Work
    Enlightened
Retired at 35 (I don’t know if there were any episodes this year…but the bad taste still lingers)

If R @ 35 doesn’t count, then substitute The Exes (another TVLand Monstrosity)

26 days, 11 hours, 10 minutes and counting down- http://thebryanawards.bravehost.com/Silver_Garbage_Awards/2012sga-shortlists.html

The five choices do not reflect the final six nominees in this race…
    1) Whitney
    2) Free Agents (they ruined it by having the leads have sex with each other in the first five minutes)
    3) Are You There, Chelsea
    4) Rob
and save the Worst for Last
    5) WORK IT!**

This one is much easier than drama…

    1. Work It: I didn’t even see it, but the first guy to win this award should be whoever gave the green light to this idea. Forget the pilot, the casting, the series a whole, THE IDEA!. That alone deserves the win. And on top of that add Razzie points for it being one of the reasons why Cougar Town kept being pushed back.

    2. Are You There Chelsea…my God…

    3. Mike & Molly. I haven’t watched the show in a long long time, but I watch promos every day and it’s just a very stupid show.

    4. Two and a Half Men: I don’t think it’s the worst, but they deserve some kind of special prize for keep going with this tired show after Charlie left and even before he left. It’s not the same anymore and Kutcher didn’t bring anything good to it.

    5. How I Met Your Mother: this could easily be my winner if it didn’t have worst shows above it. For years I’ve been wondering what’s the deal with this show, I had to watch it a couple of times thanks to Harris’ underserving Emmy nods and two days ago I saw it was on and left the episode on just to punish myself and I did, it was just awful. Horrible tone, bad editing, horrible acting and that insanely fake laugh track (even more than on other shows).

Special Award:  The Office: sadly, this has to go here just for laziness. These people really threw the towel as if they really did believe that Steve Carrell was the only reason this show existed. They consitently put out horrible episodes this season and forgot that at some point during season 2 it became clear that this show was all about that incredibly ensemble.

Almost there, Last Man Standing, The Exes (wasting a pretty talented cast), Free Agents, Glee.

And if people are listing things like Enlightened and The Big C because they need to take a shot at these Showtime or Showtime-like comedies whenever they can, or Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, Parenthood and The Good Wife in the drama thread, then let me add Modern Family to this list.

The winner of course is Work It.

I took a shot at Enlightened because the entire show is a mess and The Big C because it’s written on a fourth grade level.

But if these awards were real Work It would certainly have a field day.
