In your opinion has Chelsea Handler’s new netflix series been a success or a flop? My take is that creatively it is a failure. It just lacks any spark that her old show had.

I love the original theme music.July 27, 2016 at 11:41 am #1201880814
Depends on what the expectations were (Captain Obvious here). Netflix definitely seemed to double down on Chelsea, for whatever reason, with the stand-up special (that was horrible) and then this. Everyone else was like: “Why?”July 27, 2016 at 12:53 pm #1201880843
I would say yes – has generated absolutely zero buzz or viral segments. I had completely forgotten about it.July 27, 2016 at 2:02 pm #1201880865
I haven’t heard a single word about this show – I practically forgot it existed. I think it airing on Netflix is hurting it.July 27, 2016 at 4:19 pm #1201880898
I think you guys are right about airing on netflix hurting the show. This is preventing the show from getting the press coverage it needs to be a success. I also think that part of the problem is the format of the show. Part of what made “Chelsea Lately” work and made it funny was the roundtable format. I think frankly, Chelsea is a weak joke writer and segments of her last show were often made or broken depending on who the panelists were that day and how they interacted with Chelsea. I frankly think Chelsea isn’t strong enough a writer or host to carry as how w/out other comedians to riff off of.July 27, 2016 at 6:32 pm #1201880940
I wouldn’t consider it a flop, it defiantly has more viewers than Chelsea Lately, but it is nowhere as buzzy as other talk shows. Which is mostly due to the fact that it is on NetflixJuly 28, 2016 at 1:46 am #1201881026
A big problem I’ve noticed is that Chelsea just doesn’t seem all that invested in the material on her current show. Most of the segments seem unfocused and kind of peter off mid-way through.
