In one of the last two Emmy ceremonies, I can’t remember which, I vaguely recall seeing a small orchestra/band up above the stage in one of the corners behind glass walls… Was that a dream or do the Emmys have a band anymore? Are the themes of the winners’ shows played as they make their way to the stage? If it is a live band, does this mean that obviously the orchestra members and conductor know the winners before the audience does? (If people want to check, I watched JLD’s 2012 speech, and it seems like there was a band playing the Veep theme – you can hear a piano distinctly anyway)

No, I think the orchestra plays in a different venue.

If I recall correctly, at the Oscars they have a band/orchestra playing live from the Capitol Records building down the street from the Dolby Theatre. But at the Emmys, there is no band/orchestra at all.
