Releases on Netflix on November 20.    It’s an adaptation of the Marvel comic book.  Krysten Ritter stars as the title character.  David Tennant plays the main villain.

I have an opinion about how the 4 reviews below a B on Metacritic are all by men…

Really good pilot. The best drama pilot I’ve seen since March 2013.

Watched the first four episodes so far. I’m really enjoying this. It’s so different than anything Marvel has done, including Daredevil. It’s a nice change of pace. Ritter was a great choice for the title role.

And now that they’re 2-for-2 on Netflix, it’s really time to cancel that abomination that’s AOS and spend that money on their streaming content.

Well it depends on how much $ they’re making on each show, not how much GoldDerby user DamianWayne likes the shows.

I watched the whole series over the weekend. I haven’t binged a show in awhile, but it really hooked me, even more than Daredevil did. Ritter is great, Tennant is great, Colter is great, it’s really a strong neo-noir series that just-so-happens to be a Marvel property. And I love the way it tackles the topics of consent and sexual assault in a way that’s neither preachy nor shy (the very fact that they use the word “rape” as bluntly as they do speaks volumes about the show).

Well it depends on how much $ they’re making on each show, not how much GoldDerby user DamianWayne likes the shows.

But I think we can all agree that it SHOULD be based on how much GoldDerby user DamianWayne likes the shows.

IA with this! You hear that ABC!

Finished the show last night. Very strong stuff overall. I expect this to get a CC’s nom in Series and Actress with how well it was received.

The pilot was fantastic. Really intrigued me, and ready to watch the rest of the season!

I’m having a lot of trouble getting into this show: there’s a weird noir meets comedic tone that doesn’t quite ever gel for me. This rests mainly on Ritter’s performance, which I find to be incredibly uneven between intense/fiercely emotional and dry/unattached — these two parts of the character aren’t really seemless or reconciled in a nice way on the show, and JJ just feels really two dimensional (made evn worse by some uneven and cheesy dialogue). Only on episode four, so maybe it will change…but I do love the plot and setting and how non-superhero it is, esp. in its tackling of big issues.

I think the main problem is that scenes that aren’t interactions between at least 2 of the 3 main characters are mostly not so compelling. Even more so if Jess isn’t onscreen at all.
