Lots of Gold Derby editors wil be duking it out today at 5 p.m. PT on Gold Derby’s home page where you can participate by adding your comments to our chat room that will appear next to the video stream. I plan to BLAST AWAY at the stupidest Emmy predix of Chris Beachum, Daniel Montgomery, Rob Licuria, Charlie Bright, Ralph Galvan and others. Will they shed blood? Or worse – TEARS?May 23, 2015 at 9:08 am #349440
Hooray! Look forward to see the discourse over Chris’ decision to predict Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in first place for Comedy Series.May 23, 2015 at 1:58 pm #349441

Tom has Billy Crystal, Josh Gad, and Mel Brooks in his predictions. He must be close to predicting it for series.
Wow. Tom doesn’t have Downton Abbey.
Billy Crystal’s Emmy eppy is coming June 6. Tune in. It’s a DOOZY.May 23, 2015 at 4:07 pm #349444
Good. I can’t wait to hear Tom’s rationale for predicting The Americans for a drama series nom.May 23, 2015 at 7:08 pm #349445
Re-listening to the start, is Martin Short going to be submitted by Netflix? I thought that Netflix decided to keep his name out of the campaign shortly after the real-life inspiration for his character committed suicide.May 23, 2015 at 9:10 pm #349446
The video begins with Tom, Rob and Daniel declaring Jeffrey Tambor a
lock to win. Did you all learn nothing from Ricky Gervais last year?
Preach, Ralph and Charlie.
Yeah, Martin Short is withholding his name.
Tom says that Breaking Bad and Picket Fences are the only non-elitist shows to win best drama when saying why Orange is the New Black will lose. I would add Lost. It was about a bunch of dirty middle-class people stranded on an island.
High point of the slugfest was Charlie’s impression of Chris. I could not have predicted that that was coming.
I am with Tom. Ellie Kemper is not winning.May 23, 2015 at 9:20 pm #349447
Charlie’s emulation of Boomer was right up there with his Aaron Paul impression from a few years ago. The guy is secretly moonlighting as an impressionist at night clubs, I’m telling you!May 24, 2015 at 12:29 am #349448
I disagree with Chris that “The Comedians” can’t win I binge-watched it today and thought it was hysterical. “30 ROCK” won 3 years in a row in a bunch categories and that was a show about the TV industry and so is “The Comedians” It has an EMMY winner in the lead Billy Crystal who is hilarious and could win if he submist smartly.May 24, 2015 at 8:11 am #349449
Can someone please elaborate on the new emmy voting process??? Is it just a case where rather than a defined voting panel, every academy member who wants to vote can vote ??? And there will be 7 nominees instead of 6 (with possible additional nominees due to the 2% rule) ??? Is there also a rule change that instead of now ranking thier choices from 1 to 6, voters will simply be voting for the winner ???May 24, 2015 at 9:27 am #349450
This was so depressing. If y’all are right I might be bowing out of the Emmys in favor of Critic’s awards. I love the tape system of the Emmys. It makes it feel more legitimate than other awards. But the shows you’re saying will not only be nominated but win are all so aggressively mediocre when compared against what none of you are even predicting to even be nominated is brutal. And I am not even criticizing your predictions because I know that you’re right. Most of the time you are. But this is first time that the buzz and the reality of the situation seem so off they may as well be in another orbit. So bummed out.May 24, 2015 at 2:29 pm #349451
^I still haven’t been able to get through some of the shows that they were discussing. I’m actually with Charles on Silicon Valley, and on most of his other points. But Grace and Frankie is just irksome. I did love some of Ralph’s points, especially his mention of Maslany near the end. And yes, OITNB is a dark horse for Drama Series. That race is ridiculously up in the air. I’m still unconvinced that Mad Men can win any race, unless it somehow leads nominations. Best moment for me was watching the other editors go totally silent when Tom was discussing Outlander. It’s such a hilariously outside the box pick that they seemed like they were all left speechless.May 24, 2015 at 5:29 pm #349452
The points that Tom actually made about Outlander are totally valid, but you have to draw the line somewhere or you could make an argument about anyone getting in, due to some past vaguely similar example. This is a Starz show on Saturday starring someone without name recognition who has been unable to tangibly drum up critical support.
