Who will be the five artists chosen for the 2014 Kennedy Center Honors? These names will be announced shortly after Labor Day.

If predicting, keep in mind that they will cover several areas of entertainment and be inclusive when it comes to race and gender.

If only Doris Day would appear in person she would be a “shoo in” I should think.

Would like to see Joan Baez honored with this.

That’s true, but when the producers contact the potential honorees, they must agree to attend in person. That is hurting several people, I’m sure.

Chris, why isn’t Catherine Deneuve on your list? Surely she’s big enough to be honored.

You have to be American or have had a big impact on American culture. I don’t think she would qualify, would she??

I’ve been lucky the past couple of years, predicting 3 correctly in 2012 and 2 last year. It’s incredibly tough, though.

Here are my two prediction lists for this year…

    Mick Jagger
    Gladys Knight
    Mary Tyler Moore
    Al Pacino
    Arturo Sandoval

    Harrison Ford
    Carole King
    Jerry Lee Lewis
    Rita Moreno
    Prince

I would say she qualifies. She is, after all, considered the most beautiful woman in the world….at least by CBS News. She was honored with the “Chaplin Award” by The Film Society of Lincoln Center 2 years ago. But we’ll see I suppose.

Do you feel the same way about Emma Thompson, or is she a little young?

I would love to see Frankie Valli get it this year with the Jeresy Boys movie out but same could go with Carole King with her musical out. There are just too many deserving people. Dick Van Dyke and Betty White really popped for me especially since Betty made a huge come back these past years. Woody Allen and David Bowie I feel like wouldn’t show up either

I will add Catherine Deneuve and Emma Thompson. It’s a master list of hundreds, so it can’t hurt.

I would hate being on the pannel that chooses the winners. I would not be able to pick because there are too many deserving people

Yes! I’ve been waiting for this thread. Chris, you have Ruben Blades listed as a film performer.

They went crazy with music last year (4/5!), so hopefully they honor the other fields more this year.

    Predictions:

    Mick Jagger/Keith Richards
    Mary Tyler Moore
    Al Pacino
    Regis Philbin
    Prince

    Liza Minelli (Theatre)
    Francis Ford Coppola (director)
