Kerry Washington will star in and executive produce an HBO TV movie about Anita Hill entitled Confirmation.
The film will detail the explosive 1991 Clarence Thomas-Hill Supreme
Court nomination hearings, which brought the nation to a standstill and
forever changed the way people think about sexual harassment, victims’
rights and race relations in the modern world.
Academy Award-nominated writer Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) will pen the script and executive produce along with Washington, Michael London, and Janice Williams. Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, The Wood) is in talks to direct, but no deal is in place.
Washington was set to film Warner Bros.’ Amma Asante-directed drama Unforgettable this summer, which may lead to scheduling conflicts with Confirmation.
HBO is currently building its roster of original films, including the recently announced Battle of the Sexes project with Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti tapped
to play tennis legends Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. The premium
network is also working on an adaptation of Bryan Cranston’s Tony
winner All the Way with Jay Roach attached to direct.March 12, 2015 at 4:13 pm #343529

She will be Great…March 12, 2015 at 7:45 pm #343531
Like with all of these HBO projects, I really do hope it comes to fruition and doesn’t disappear to “development hell” like so many others.
Unfortunately, Washington has been doing great work on a highly rated show in a very competitive category. Future nominations for Scandal are already in doubt, so I am very happy she is going the “produce your own project route,” even though I don’t think that she looks much like Anita Hill. If and when it airs, she’ll definitely be a contender, though.March 13, 2015 at 1:41 am #343532
I still expect double down to be announced. Strong and roach are busy though. It’s got to be announced soon if its going to air in 2016. Game change aired in march. They did cut out all of Obama and Hillary and Edwards though. So it would be a Romney movie if they cut out obama again. Maybe they just aren’t interested.March 13, 2015 at 6:21 am #343533
I had no clue who Anita Hill was but after looking her up, this movie is definately one I am excited to watch.March 13, 2015 at 6:59 am #343534

Greg Kinnear To Play Joe Biden In HBO’s ‘Confirmation’, Jennifer Hudson Also Cast
by Nellie Andreeva May 29, 2015 10:30am
Current U.S. Vice President Joe Biden was a key player in the explosive 1991 confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. He will be featured in HBO Films’ upcoming movie on the controversy, Confirmation, portrayed by Greg Kinnear. Also joining the cast of the project are Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright and Alison Wright.
The film, set to begin production this summer, details the Clarence Thomas (Wendell Pierce) Supreme Court nomination hearings rocked by testimonies by Oklahoma law professor Anita Hill (Kerry Washington), which brought the country to a standstill and forever changed the way we think about sexual harassment, victims rights and modern-day race relations.
As then-chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Biden presided over the Clarence Thomas hearings, and there had been speculation over the years that he may have gotten intimidated, cutting the hearings short and not calling additional witnesses while allowing Hill, who had come forward to accuse Thomas of sexual harassment, to be attacked mercilessly by other senators.
One of those additional witnesses who may have changed the outcome of the hearing was Angela Wright (Hudson). Dubbed as “the other woman”, Wright was prepared to testify that she too was sexually harassed by Thomas but was never called. Jeffrey Wright will play Harvard Law professor Charles Ogletree, who represented Hill at the hearing.
Alison Wright will play Thomas’ wife, attorney Virginia “Ginni” Thomas. She also plays a key part in the saga. It was a bizarre voice message she left for Hill in 2010, asking Hill to apologize to her husband, that thrust the story back into the spotlight. A 2013 documentary, Anita, followed, and now HBO is doing an original movie on the case, which will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa, director of Sundance breakout Dope, from a script by Susannah Grant. Grant, Washington, Michael London and Janice Williams executive produce for HBO Films in association with ABC Signature and London and Williams’ A Groundswell Production. Eric Stonestreet akso co-stars as Ken Duberstein.May 29, 2015 at 12:54 pm #343538
