Nine TV shows have won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series 3 or more times. Which one do you think is least deserving of that many victories?

I don’t even know what The Phil Silvers Show is, and I know some things even if I’ve never seen them.

Taking that one out, Modern Family easily. I wouldn’t have given them the second win I think, much less the third.

I have never watched Dick Van Dyke, but I’ve watched all the others and yes to all of them.

Modern Family easily. At least with 30 Rock they stopped after three wins (to honor Modern Family for the first time, funnily enough).

Yeah, Modern Family. I think the first season made for a pretty great win, but it’s never been my favorite since then. The second win wasn’t a *bad* choice, but I vastly preferred Community’s 2nd season and Parks/Rec’s 3rd to it. And even with the Season 5 comeback, Veep’s 3rd season outpaced it in my eyes.

The others I think all had a lot more justification for their wins, though I probably would’ve only given Frasier 2 or 3 (subbing in The Larry Sanders Show and maybe another win for Seinfeld or Friends).

All in the Family, Cheers, Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, and Taxi were all pretty deserving of all their victories.

Haven’t seen The Phil Silvers Show.

Regarding 30 Rock, I wouldn’t have minded giving up a win or two of its tenure to The Office’s 3rd season or to one of Pushing Daisies’, but it was still my choice to take the Emmy in 2013, so it was worthy of at least 3 overall.

Ugh I have never liked Modern Family. I just think it is so lame and nothing new. Glee should have won for the first two seasons (2010/2011) and then 30 Rock (2012/2013) and Orange is the New Black (2014).

I think 30 Rock deserved all 3 wins and would have deserved two more. I loved Seasons 5,6, and 7 but I’m surprised people don’t like those seasons. I actually thought they were some of their bests.

Hoping that this is finally the year that “Veep” can overtake “Modern Family.” Or, in a perfect world, “The Comeback.” Who knows… Voters may want to make Emmy history, by having “Modern Family” become the most honored series ever for Best Comedy. Six consecutive years… Who would have ever thought.

In a perfect world, The Comeback would be taking this no question

Looks like we are headed for quite an entertaining Emmy awards 2015, judging from the results / comments of this thread. Can’t wait!

Modern Family is the most deserving of them all. You haters can seethe.
In what “perfect” world The Comeback is the best comedy series is beyond me, I couldn’t past the 3rd episode of first season and I love Lisa Kudrow, but boy are both of her TV series annoying.
There is no way a cable comedy will win the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy because they are more up Golden Globes’ alley, not funny at all. Unless HBO finds themselves an iconic show like Sex and the City this award will stay between network comedies. Or of course Netflix can get it but the voters are not here for them at all.

Unless a new acclaimed network comedy comes and has huge ratings I don’t see many shows stand a chance against Modern Family. Which is why I don’t think The Comedians will be as successful as people assume.

Modern Family. Oh my gosh. When there are groundbreaking comedies, or even better nominees to choose from, it’s just embarrassing that they go with the same safe choice every damn time. It would be one thing if it deserved it, but hasn’t seriously earned most of them.

Taxi would probably be my choice.   But only because I’ve never heard of nor seen The Phil Silvers Show, so I couldn’t vote for that.

“Modern Family,” only b/c five going on six series wins is beyond excessive.

I didn’t realize how many quality comedies had won series 3 times or more. Although I’ve never been a big Frasier fan, at least it was consistently clever and felt like its own thing. This poll makes MF’s dominance appear even more reprehensible.

Part of me wants to pick Modern Family also, but I think that’s the easiest one to crap on because it’s the most current.  And part of me wants to pick The Phil Slivers Show because I don’t even know what that is.  But I think I have to go with MF, even if it’s a little unfair, because I can’t not think of great shows like Community and Parks and Rec languishing Emmy-less while the voters just keep going to MF, which, past its first season, really wasn’t deserving of the win.

Fighting words. Everyone has their own opinion, but it’s hard to take it seriously when you haven’t even seen the season of the series to which I’m referring. There has never been a character like Valerie Cherish (including Phoebe Buffay, who has no comparison). I promise you’ll be emotional by the time the season two finale rolls around.

    Give her another take, TWRamazanetin.
