While most people love a lot/almost all of the episodes in their favourite T.V. shows, I find that there are some episodes in them I just can’t stand. The ones that for one reason or another fall short of expection. Since I know that they exist for everyone, I figured what were yours?

I’ll tell you mine once I have time to ruminate on it.

Ooh, I started this thread three and a half years ago in the old forum and we got three pages out of it!

The ones that I discussed then were:

    • “My Mother, the Car”, Arrested Development (2003, season 1)
    • “Easy as Pie”, Dexter
      (2008, season 3)
    • “Revelation Zero”, FlashForward (2010, season 1)
    • “The Substitute”, Glee (2010, season 2)
    • “Now What?”, House
      (2010, season 7)
    • “Across the Sea”, Lost
      (2010, season 6)
    • “The Arrangements”, Mad Men (2009, season 3)
    • “Survivor Man”, The Office
      (2007, season 4)
    • “Winter Madness”, 30 Rock (2010, season 4)

Ah, yes. The days when an episode from Dexter’s 3rd season could be considered the nadir. What fascinating times those were.

“Across the Sea” – Lost (Season 6, episode 15). Quite literally one of the worst hours, if not THE worst, of television I’ve ever watched.

Ooh, I started this thread three and a half years ago…

3 1/2 years ago? I remember that thread. Time is a bitch.

    Most quickly comes to mind:
    Mad Men-Christmas Waltz
    The Sopranos- Christopher
Friday Night Lights- Who Do You Think You Are
    The Shield- Pilot and Co-Pilot
    Battlestar Galatica- Black Market
Buffy the Vampire Slayer- Where the Wild Things
    Are
    Breaking Bad- Green Light
    24- Day 6: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
    Lost- Across the Sea

But I love Across the Sea.

Anyway, off the top of my head, can’t think of anything but The Office‘s The Banker (Season 6).

Hmm, I wouldn’t call The Walking Dead a favorite of mine, but it is one of the few shows I watch, and I do like it. It has a bunch of so so episodes. Maybe the worst is Cherokee Rose (Season 2).

Twin Peaks – “Double Play” – represented the show at its worst with the pointless James off in some erotic thriller storyline, an overcomplicated Josie-Andrew-Thomas Eckhardt plot, the “Ben believes he’s in the Civil War” story, all pointless.

    Six Feet Under
    – “That’s My Dog” – A.K.A. the David Held Hostage By a Hitchhiker episode. Awful.

Lost – “Stranger in a Strange Land” – Because everyone needed to have an in-depth look at how Jack got his tattoos.

The Office – “Dunder Mifflin Infinity” – They probably had worse episodes after Steve Carell left (I didn’t watch), but this episode was when I started to see the show going off the rails, with Michael driving into the lake coming dangerously close to a jump-the-shark moment.

Mad Men – “The Jet Set” – I rarely enjoy when the show goes to California and I just remember not enjoying this episode at all.

Friends – The One with the Sharks… Christ, what a car-crash episode.  Must be the worst written/worst concept of an episode in the history of television.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but it is one that has already been discussed in detail by Matt Zoller Seitz at Vulture.

    The Practice, “Happily Ever After”
I thought the “big reveal” was silly and the way this story arc ended the following season was anticlimactic and, well… stupid.

    The Shield- Pilot and Co-Pilot[/quote]
Really? There were far weaker episodes later on and you’ve already listed one of them.

Yeah, The Shield pilot has a place in TV history. It’s literally the birth of basic cable and is such a brilliant reconstruction of pilot expectations and cop show expectations. A little over-the-top I guess, given how heavy the show became later, but still easily one of the most exciting and shocking episodes of Season 1. Shocking choice.

    Seinfeld: “The Seinfeld Chronicles” (pilot)
    The Sopranos: “Chasing It”
Lost: “The Candidate” and all of Season 6 really.
    The X-Files: “3”
Buffy: “Where the Wild Things Are”
    Futurama: “Yo Leela Leela”
    Battlestar Galactica: “Black Market”
    Arrested Development: “Indian Takers”
    Game of Thrones: “Valar Morghulis”
    Firefly: “Heart of Gold”
    Mad Men: “Tea Leaves”
Breaking Bad: “A No-Rough-Stuff Type Deal”

Can’t come up with a damn thing for The Wire, The Shield, or Deadwood.
