I know this has been discussed already on the forums but I don’t see a dedicated thread.

So, in the spirit of getting completely ahead of myself, the first review for Legion has arrived and it is a rave.

I anticipate it will be the first of many.

I am really curious to see if this can be the first “superhero show” to break through.

I am super excited for this show. However, based on what I’ve heard, I think we should call it a “comic book show” and not a superhero “show”. That being said, I hope that this becomes the first “comic book” show to break through.

Dan Stevens was amazing in The Guest. I never saw his potential when he was on Downton Abbey as a ripped action star. Even though his leaving kind of ruined the show, good for him. I was a special-skills extra on the pilot of this (working title: “Clubhouse”), but was unfortunately in a flashback, so I only met the actor who plays young Dan Stevens. Noah Hawley was directing though (at 120 frames per second for one scene), so that was cool.

That’s awesome! What was Hawley like?

He was fine, not too memorable. What we shot was pretty cool though. There was a special section when we broke for lunch for people on the Paleo Diet, so maybe it was for him?

I do not like Dan Stevens’s hair and wardrobe in this; they are squandering his looks!

They are trying make him look crazy. His character in the comics is not attractive at all, he is supposed to look like he’s been in  solitary confinement for a long time. His character would not work if they tried to make him attractive, and he is a great character that I would hate to see ruined.

Whenever I read her reviews, I can never tell whether or not she actually likes it, but at least she sung praise for Dan stevens. I need this show to get all the Emmys. Grab the Emmys! GRAB THEM

I’m not into the X-Men at all (or really familiar with the universe at all), but Fargo is one of my favorite shows on TV and I’ll give anything with Jean Smart a chance.

Woah! This show is crazy! What the fuck! It’s basically Mr.Robot + Heroes.

This show is so good. Will it do good at the Emmys? I don’t know. The critics love it. Awards are embracing genre this year. Noah Hawley is attached.

My only worry is that it will be too confusing for the Emmy voters, but then again, they embraced Mr. Robot.

The highlights for me were oubviously the directing and writing. Wowzers! I also loved the music, editing and cinematography. And the performances were great. Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, and Hamish Linklater all give nomination worthy performances.

I loved this show and I hope it has a shot at the Emmys! It deserves it.

I am still boggled by how crazy the pilot was.

Great reviews, but not a chance in terms of above the line noms. Will definitely get some below the line noms though. Let’s not forget that until last year, FX has been terrible at getting their drama series noticed by the Academy. It took The Americans 4 years and that was only because the critical consensus had been building for so long that the Academy really didn’t have a choice if they wanted to have any credibility. It’s also going to be hard to market to voters because it’s a superhero show, no matter how artistic it is.

I would say it has at least a small chance, especially if it becomes a ratings hit. Don’t forget that Heroes got it, and this is essentially Mr. Robot+ Heroes+ LSD.

If it’s a huge ratings hit it has a shot, but it would have to be huge. Or at least have a ton of Internet buzz, which is certainly possible. We’ll see if it has legs. Should be a lock in a lot of the below the line categories at least. If not, there’s something wrong. Then again, Better Call Saul has yet to receive a cinematography nom despite the critics consensus being that it’s one of the best shot shows on tv.

Its off to a good start! Not what it needs to make a dent in the awards circuit, but it can grow. If it has a big gain next week, than I will have more hope.
