Is this where I give you the list of “areas” that can have multiple winners without it being a “tie”, so one of you can call them “ties” whenever they happen…again?  And just a reminder: there’s no show called “Incredible Upset”, which is what was said was the winner of the Animated Program Emmy last year – it took who knows how long to find out that he was referring to Bob’s Burgers.

Actually, you’re in luck; I have a prior commitment tomorrow, so I can’t make it…

I’ve apparently spent so much time obsessing over this that I had a dream last night that Paul Giamatti won Guest Actor, and I don’t even have him in my Top 2. This ceremony can’t come quickly enough.

Huge night for Game of Thrones that will determine whether or not they will break the record this year.

If Thrones only gets 3-4 wins, watch everybody take it out of top spot on their predictions!

^Why the hell would it matter? It’s not like winning 4 Emmys at one night is a bad thing. There are hundreds of series out there which would do anything to get that one Emmy-even if it’s for Makeup or Hairstyling-so they can call themselves “Emmy-winning show”

Breaking Bad won only one last year at the Creative ceremony and zero the year before, but that didn’t stop them for winning Best Drama.
I’ll stick with Game, even if it wins zero today because they still have that two Directing noms ahead of zero for Mad and House.
Some people are seeing U,U,U as a threat for GoT but I think it’s even an advantage to get nominated, even for your worst episode, that means voters are ready to go with you no matter what.

Back to the topic, I don’t think I really care most of the categories that will be announced today. The only thing I wonder, what will be the first results of vote changing. So I will keep an eye on Guest categories. Unlike many here, I don’t think it will make a huge difference in creative categories because unlike actors, craftmen probably takes their job more seriously and have watched their tapes regardless, just like in the past. And no need to mention their jobs were hundred times easier than actors because they only had two or three categories to judge overall.

Because the only reason most people have Game of Thrones in top spot is because of its amount of nominations. I loved Season 5 but some people didn’t, but are now convinced it will win best series.

You can’t only consider one season of work , especially now with this new voting system. Breaking Bad’s 5A wasn’t no one’s favourite season either, and everyone were saying “Come on, if it didn’t win when it’s better, then why should it win now?” But it won regardless because it peaked in its level of popularity and the more people became aware of its existence, and excellence. You can’t blame someone who have watched Game of Thrones’ first season five years after it aired, impressed and now has voted for its S5, even though they didn’t like this one much, but voted for its ambition and five seasons of work overall. Not every show can be recognized immediately after they came into play, like Mad Men or The West Wing. The others-especially the genre shows need time to prove themselves that they’re more than they look like at first.

It had garnered 24 nominations which came from all branches of Academy, and made it the top five list in every category including Editing, Directing, Writing, Acting, Cinematography . There might be some other show with a better cinematography and can win the big prize today, but you can’t deny the fact that it had enough supporters from that branch to got them there in the first place, and helped them land 4 nominations overall. There might be some other show that has been better edited and can win the big prize above GoT today, but you can’t ignore the fact that it had enough fans to make it into top 5 with 2 nominations.
So the long story short: It has 24 nominations. Fair and square. More than any other show in the last decade. No other factor will change this fact after this point. It can win all of them. It can lose all of them. But this level of support couldn’t be an outcome of luck or coincidince. Just because you lost something, that doesn’t undervalue of the prize of being chosen as “one of the very best” in the first place.

They’re on TV next Saturday night, on FXX, and keep in mind they have to squeeze a 4-hour ceremony into a 2 1/2-hour timeslot, so other than the “big” awards, don’t expect to hear more than 10 seconds or so of any speech.
