Though we sadly have to say goodbye to this beautiful show, Looking will finish off its 2 season series with a finale movie like Hello Ladies got to do. The gang is all back together for the movie with production starting this week. 11 photos are already out with the cast back together!
So with shooting now, I would predict this will be premiering either after Girls/Togetherness/Vinyl wrap their seasons up or they’ll give them a Saturday release sometime in the spring. I doubt HBO is giving them the coveted memorial day weekend time slot. But with Hello Ladies pulling through at the Emmys with a movie and writing nom, this could be a good sign for Looking! Especially if the movies are bare like last year.October 28, 2015 at 10:11 am #364279
I think this is a safe bet for Emmy nominations, assuming the quality is consistent with last season — maybe not across the board, but Best Movie and Best Writing. I think this’ll be just like “Treme.” They were never gonna nominate that show for Best Drama, but as a miniseries it was established enough and had enough of that built-in HBO cachet, that it was bound ti get in. And since movies are less competitive than miniseries these days, “Looking” should be able to get a foothold.
I also hope we can get one or two actors in there, like Groff or Weedman, just like how the “Extras” finale movie helped Ashley Jensen finally get in there. Fingers crossed.October 28, 2015 at 12:52 pm #364280
I am also crossing my fingers for awards attention for this movie! Cannot wait.October 28, 2015 at 4:05 pm #364281
Team Richie. Team Richie!!! Also I would just love some acting nominations everywhere. I know Weedman will get in. They caught on to the fact that she’s amazing and they really know how to write her character. Groff could get in also.October 29, 2015 at 12:26 pm #364282
Is Russel Tovey in the movie at all? It looks like the cast and crew is filming/table reading in San Francisco, but Mr. Tovey and his Frenchie are camped out in New York (according to his Instagram)October 29, 2015 at 3:56 pm #364283
Tovey has confirmed on his Twitter previously that he is in the film. Also, his latest instagrams show him as being blonde!June 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm #1201855166
CANNOT WAIT! One month away! My friends and I are all having a watching party 🙂June 22, 2016 at 2:07 pm #1201855175
Fingers crossed this is a satisfying wrap up – will definitely miss this show once it’s officially gone.
I’m afraid since Looking was canceled we are not going to get another gay “prestige-style” drama on HBO for a while :/June 22, 2016 at 7:41 pm #1201855400
I feel like the trailer might be giving too much away – and not the way I’d like things to go. But I’m still excited.June 23, 2016 at 7:33 am #1201855487
I’m very, very excited. Can’t wait to see it. Season 2 was just perfection.June 23, 2016 at 8:10 am #1201855501
Kinda sad HBO is dumping this on a rando Saturday in July. Not that it was going to be a major Emmy player, but it’s out of sight, out of mind until next summer then. A later bid might have kept it in the hunt in Made for Television Movie, at least. Maybe it still might. Loved the trailer. I’m all for a reunion/wedding with numerous hijinks ensuing. I’ll miss “Looking” dearly. Hope this film delivers and sticks its landing well.June 23, 2016 at 11:00 am #1201855579

Yeah, I mean I guess we should be happy that we are getting a wrap-up at all but I think it speaks to HBO’s total disinterest in the project the way they are dumping it. I doubt they even promote it let alone run any type of Emmy campaign :/June 23, 2016 at 12:26 pm #1201855616
This all just goes to show how much HBO needs to get its act together.
Also, 1 month from today!
