What are some of your predictions for nominees/winners/category changes in Emmys not so distant future?

    A few of mine

    • The series finale of The Simpsons will become the first animated episode to receive a writing nomination
    • A Big 3 network drama will win best series by 2020
    • HBO’s The Dark Tower goes 6/7 in its debut season

The final season of The Simpsons will get nominations of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and whatever guest stars they choose in regular acting instead of voice acting, and will get in for Comedy Series (and possibly win it).

You know that they submit themselves in Animated Program?

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

Of course I do, but I figure that since that would be the last year of The Simpsons ever, I think it would be the logical move to end The Simpsons out with a bang and do something as ballsy as submit it in Comedy Series. It almost seems stupid not to do it in my mind. And because the final season would probably have huge ratings (maybe upwards of 40 million viewers at least), it would make all the more sense to do it as a way to pay homage to the series.

Jennifer Aniston finally comes back to television and wins another Emmy for headlining an edgy Showtime dramedy.

Oh I gotcha, I kinda agree with you, it all depends on how the final season is recieved, if it got critical acclaim and was considered the best season since the golden age of the show, it should submit itself in Comedy Series, but if it still recieves the same reviews it gets now, it should submit itself in Animated Program

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

The categories will be reestablished by episode # instead of submitting shows whereever the network wants to place them.

I’m going to be depressing here…

In 10 years, no networks will be nominated in Outstanding Drama Series or Comedy Series (they may still receive an acting award or 2). Modern Family will have ended its run.

The networks will be so angry that a cable or premium channel (maybe TNT or HBO) will have to host the Emmy ceremony.

A “NetworkACE” Award will be established.

I’m going to have to agree on this. I do not see any broadcast shows being nominated five years from now either. There will be some acting nominations here and there, but the networks are really in trouble in my opinion. I just don’t see them being able to compete with cable and streaming for much longer. Once Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory are done there’s going to be nothing left. Certainly no upcoming network show looks like it’s going to be anything other than decent at best.

I also think Jennifer Aniston is going to be nominated in five years for a cable dramedy like Taloson said.

5 years from now the Reality Categories will be expanded into shady territory with possibly Best Judge and God help us, Best Contestant (even though some people do deserve it).

5 years from now the variety performers as supporting actors nonsense will be over.

5 years from now Amy Poehler still doesn’t have an Emmy.

As for changes to emmy rules

They will be ten shows per Drama/Comedy sereis and seven acting slots per acting race.

Guest stars cannot appear in more than 50% of a given season

They bring back Vareity host and force the SNL guests host there. But SNL regular cast members will still be consider supporting.

Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback) will win Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Matt Le Blanc will continue to rack up Comedy Lead Actor nods for playing the same character in different shows; while Courteney Cox continues to be snubbed.

Game of Thrones ends its run w/o a Series win.

An African American actress finally wins Drama Lead Actress for a Shonda Rhimes show.
