I have added Maude to my dvr and I have enjoyed getting caught up on this show.  I am glad that Bea Arthur won an Emmy for this show.  However, I feel that Rue McClanahan and Conrad Bain should have been nominated and won for this show.

I am hoping that they release seasons 2 to 6 on dvd.

Has anyone else ever watched Maude?

Yes! I love Maude! One of the best shows ever. And yeah i totally agree with you, Rue and Conrad should have been nominated and they even had some emmy winning episodes. I think Beatrice Arthur should have won at least 2 Emmy’s for this. This show was a symbol in the 70’s of becoming modern. I read somewhere that they were the first show to have episodes on controversial topics such as gay rights, abortion, and other rights as well.

What episodes are considered Emmy-winning episodes for Conrad Bain each season?

I just watched Vivian’s Surprise from season 5 (1976-1977 season) and Conrad Bain plays twins. This could have been an Emmy winning submission for him.  The best scene is when he hits on Maude.

Vivian is happy and relaxed after Arthur comes back from a trip. Vivian explains that Arthur is a different man, and then wonders what might have happened while he was out of town to cause his change of heart.

Maude is shown on one of the cable stations on Comcast in Chicago and I added Maude to my dvr.

I have emailed Sony at the below address and asked about the release of Maude on dvd beyond season 1.

The first two minutes of this clip are comedic GOLD! Such a shame seasons two through six have yet to be released on DVD. That, and the fact that Arthur only had a single Emmy win for this series. I agree she should have had at least another during the show’s run. Luckily, her category those years was pretty stacked with the likes of Moore and Stapleton. And yes, Rue McClanahan should have won Supporting at some point. The clip I have included solidifies that in my mind.
