We know you all are about to make some awful choices (Margo Martindale winning for 2 minutes last year) or some choices that make no sense based on your very own nominations (you really are watching How to Get Away with Murder over House of Cards/The Americans/Homeland huh?)

So here are some suggestions as to who will make GOOD winners in certain categories.

Lead Actress Comedy- Yes you are voting for Dreyfus, but why not make HISTORY and make Traci Ellis Ross only the 2nd black actress to win this category? Blackish is up for best show and just won Best Comedy at TCA. Every other group passed over Dreyfus, why not show similar guts? Contrary to the Veep fanboys, JLD is not head and shoulders above every other woman on TV. Which is why Rachel Bloom kicked her butt at every awards show. Laurie Metcalf also very deserving.

TV Actor Comedy- I know like with JLD it is sacriledge to suggest someone other than Tambor deserves it but Aziz, Middledatch, and Anderson are just as worthy.

Lead Actress Drama- Come on now. You showered House of Cards and The Americans with nominations including Drama series so why not give a win to one of it’s leading ladies Robin Wright or Keri Russell? It is after all a POPULAR vote. The winner should reflect the Emmys own nominations and you guys are clearly not wild about HTGAWM. I like Viola Davis but looking at you’re own nominations you guys are not crazy about that show. Neither is critics or audiences as support and ratings dropped. If Davis wins again it just proves you are just voting for who has the industry popular support and not what you the Emmy voter actually likes. And for the record I love Viola and hope she wins the Oscar for Fences but this would be such a “WE RESPECT HER THE MOST AND WANT TO VOTE FOR WHO WE THINK WILL WIN” type of win. Even Maslany and Henson lay more claim to the prize this year.

TV Actor Drama- In order of deserving- 1. Bob Odenkirk 2. Rami Malek 3. Matthew Rhys 4. Kevin Spacey 5. Liev Schrieber 6. Kyle Chandler

Supporting Actress Drama- Maggie Smith doesn’t show up to the Emmys. She won’t be there if she wins. Maggie SMith delivering crotchety one liners is not an acting stretch or anything new. Critics agreed that Maura Tierney and Constance Zimmer did CAREER best work. And you got 3 ladies nominated from your favorite show Game of Thrones. If you vote based on the submitted episodes, which you are SUPPOSED to watch, it should be Tierney. Please spare us from another “Maggie Smith could not be with us this evening…we accept the award on her behalf.”

Supporting Actor Drama- Whatever, none of these guys really deserve it based on their season but it’d be cool to see Kit Harrington win.

Guest Actress Drama- If you vote for Martindale again it further delegitimizes the awards as she did next to nothing. Laurie Metcalf in Horace and Pete was by far the best.

Supporting Actress Comedy- I’d rather see a gorilla on stage accepting an Emmy before I see Allison Janney up there again. Come on McKinnon or Nash or even Chulmsky. Mix it up. Not to mention Janney is a LEAD on her show.

Supporting Actress TV Movie- Olivia Colman was by far the best for The Night Manager but she doesn’t have the “name” or “pedigree” as some of these other women who have all won Emmys and are all nominated for decent but not extrordinary work.

TV Actor Movie- It must be Courtney B Vance as he and Paulson were the OJ standouts. If Cranston doesn’t fit you MUST acquit!

TV Actress Movie- Duh Paulson, unless you have something against her.

Supporting Actor TV Movie- Brown, Laurie, Schwimmer, and the Fargo guys all worthy.

TV Movie- I cry sexism. Confirmation was MUCH better than All the Way. A win for Confirmation would give Kerry Washington a much deserved Emmy win.

I think that we can all agree that Bradley Whitford and Margo Martindale would be the most embarrassing winners possible and they both happen to be strong contenders off of the inertia from their wins last year.

The Emmys really has some embarrassing winners. They need to drop Julia Louis Dreyfus. Her performance is great but common, someone else deserves to win that category after 5 years. Even though Viola Davis is great in HTGAWM, the show is mediocre bad. They shouldn’t give it more wins. And in the Drama Actor category, Liev Shreiber gives the performance of his life in his episode submission.

I don’t see why this has to be a thread.

    1. Have you seen Ross’ overall performance or her tape? She’s by far the weakest element of that category. Nah, she shouldn’t win based on the fact that she’s black. That’s so racist to even mention that.

    2. Who cares if they don’t like HTGAWWM? They nominated Viola Davis from the show and not the show itself. And Viola Davis is fucking amazing as Annalise Keating! She deserves to win again. And win more if she’s that good on a by the way very good show (go away, haters!).

    3. I don’t wanna comment on that. You probably never saw a Downton Abbey episode if you think that Maggie is only there to have some funny one-liners. That is a small part of a complex and well-put performance. Also, the best should win, not those who show up.

    4. We don’t need a thread for this. We all have our own personal opinion about the upcoming Emmys.

LOL advocating for threads you don’t like to be deleted. No wonder this board has gone dead.

The GDerby moderators need to start random threads daily because this board has gone so dead since the new format turned a lot of people off. They should thank anyone who starts their own thread at this point.

The new system last year produced some of the most f*cked up set of nonsensical winners in years and seeing I can see us heading for another hot mess this year I will scream from the roof tops my disapproval and point out the hypocrisy. Best deal.

I wholeheartedly agree. YES PLEASE DELETE IT. If Julia Louis-Dreyfus loses, it will be one of the greatest travesties in Emmy history. None of her fellow nominees were as good in their seasons as JLD was in “Mother” alone.

I think it’s very funny how the only one you didn’t put as worthy for TV Movie / Mini Supporting Actor is the one that would get my personal vote, John Travolta. I’ve never seen him give such a fascinating performance before, for me its easily the best work of his entire career! I actually saw Robert Shapiro interviewed by Megyn Kelly, and was amazed at how similar the real-life Shapiro and Travolta’s performance were.

However, I think Hugh Laurie will win for The Night Manager, as a career Award for his having never won an Emmy for House and also for his excellent work on Veep, plus it will be a way for them to throw the Miniseries itself a bone. But I might change to Travolta before the Emmys still, I just haven’t gotten up the nerve yet. Same with Drama Supporting Actor, my gut’s telling me Harington or maybe even Mendelsohn (being the main villain in the new Disney Wars thing can’t hurt his appeal or name recognition) as an I.O.U. for his simmering, wonderfully brooding work on Bloodline last year.

I said it should be deleted because it is just your personal opinions about who should win (and you are treating it like facts) and I really don’t see why your picks are important enough to have their own thread.

Ohh thats a good point I haven’t thought of yet.

    Comedy

Lead Actor: Tambor gives a great performance but he is not funny! Ansari or Anderson would be more fitting.

Lead Actress: Louis-Dreyfus! But if anyone should take her down, it should be Metcalfe. She gives a fierce performance.

Supporting Actor: Hale has a great moment in his submission but ultimately did nothing this season. Anderson gives a great, subtle performance but Key and Burrell have the laughs.

Supporting Actress: Anyone but Janney! The show is horrible and she is a lead. This award should be Krakowski but since she’s not in the mix award Nash.
