I thought that it would be interesting to see the nominations that each network is expected to get, and how that changes throughout the race. I evaluated the Goldderby Combined odds in the major races for the Comedy, Drama, and Mini/Movie categories and found that the rankings are currently:

    1. Netflix: 18 Nominations
    2. HBO:17 Nominations
3 (tie). CBS and Showtime: 12 Nominations
    5. ABC: 11 Nominations
    6. FX: 10 Nominations
    7. NBC: 8 Nominations
    8. BBC2: 7 Nominations
9 (tie). Fox and AMC: 5 Nominations

Note: These don’t encompass the writing, directing or other technical categories, which aren’t currently in the predictions centre.

Do you expect the same breakdown? How do the networks fare with your predictions?

My rankings differ slightly, though I do have the same top 10:

    1. HBO: 19 Nominations
    2. ABC: 14 Nominations
3 (tie). CBS and Showtime: 13 Nominations
    5. Netflix: 12 Nominations
    6. FX: 9 Nominations
    7. NBC: 8 Nominations
    8 (tie). BBC2 and Fox: 7 Nominations
    10. AMC: 5 Nominations

Feel free to share yours below, and also comment on why your rankings might differ significantly from consensus. My big difference is Netflix’s ranking, because I currently don’t forsee any nominations for Bloodline or Grace and Frankie. That might prove to be foolish, but Bloodline seems like it just flopped, and I still need to see Grace and Frankie before evaluating it.

I was too lazy to count my predictions in all those categories but overall I expect the top 3 to be

    1 – HBO
    2 – Netflix
    3 – FX

Interesting! What FX series do you think we’re underestimating?

None probably, I forgot Fargo was not eligible this year, they’ll probably won’t get that much. Last year they were second after HBO with 40 something nominations I assumed they’d be doing it again this year too. At least the top 2 will for sure look like that.

I agree that those are a likely top 2, but I just can’t picture all the Netflix nominations right now. Kyle Chandler in lead? I just don’t see it.

I think Netflix has a real good chance at taking down HBO in a few years, for this year though I expect something like this in the main categories:

    Bloodline
    Lead Actor
    Supporting Actor
    Supporting Actress (maybe x2)
    Guest Actor

    House of Cards
    Drama Series
    Lead Actor
    Lead Actress
    Directing

    Orange is the New Black
    Drama Series
    Supporting Actress
    Directing
    Writing

    Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
    Comedy Series
    Supporting Actress
    Writing
    Directing
    Guest Actor
    Guest Actress

    Grace and Frankie
    Lead Actress
    Lead Actress
    Supporting Actor (maybe x2)
Directing (One of Betty Thomas, Scott Winant or Dean Parisot)
    Writing (Marta Kauffman, probably pilot)

    Derek: The Final Chapter
    TV Movie
    Lead Actor

Maybe it is too optimistic in some cases, I don’t know, but I can see most of these happening.

I think Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has a better chance at Supporting Actor, and Guest Actress for Fey. Then there’s Bloodline which I don’t see getting anything. Oherwise, I’d say you’re pretty spot on, with a possible asterix for Grace and Frankie, depending on its reception.

Thanks for reminding how could I forget Jon Hamm and Tina Fey is beyond me, cause they are in my predictions. Not seeing Supporting Actor nomination though.
Yeah Grace and Frankie is a big question mark for now but I’m almost sure that at the very least both leading ladies will be there.
