What’s it gonna take for Bill Maher to win an Emmy this year?

His Emmy losing streak is one of Emmy’s biggest crimes!

What is his biggest competition this year in the Variety Series category?

    Here are my picks:

    Variety, Music or Comedy Series

    “The Colbert Report” (Comedy Central)

    “Conan” (TBS)

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” (Comedy Central)

“Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO)

    “Saturday Night Live” (NBC)

    (Alternates)

    “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC)

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (CBS)

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (NBC)

“The Late Show with David Letterman” (CBS)

    “Portlandia” (IFC)

“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (NBC)

Unfortunately, even if “The Daily Show” loses it’ll probably go to “The Colbert Report.” And if neither of those wins, It might go to “Conan” or “SNL.” I just don’t see “Real Time” winning this race. Maybe he has a better chance in the writing category. Or, more likely, he’ll have to do another special, because it’ll be tough to break through with a win in the series race.

Yeah, he won’t win unless he does a special.  He’s guranteed a Variety Series nomination but would probably end up last in voting for the win.  He doesn’t even have a chance in the writing category as the Comedy Central shows have a stranglehold on that category.  Your predictions for the category nominees will probbaly end up as the nominees (Colbert, Conan, Daily Show, Real Time & SNL).  The Daily Show has to lose at some point but none of the chalengers have the tapes they had last year (Colbert doesn’t have Iraq, Conan doesn’t have the NBC finale, and SNL doesn’t have the Betty White episode).  By default The Daily Show is the winner again.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say I don’t find Bill Maher funny at all. Maybe it’s the political barrier, I

dunno, but the episodes I’ve seen have never impressed me.

    G’Day,

Bill Maher is a funny and smart guy who host a good show. I just find him a bit to angry, cynical and arrogant to really get behind him for a win. Stewart and Colbert have more jest, optimism and self-deprication which makes for a more entretaining and fun show.

I think we should brainstorm ways for Bill Maher to finally win an Emmy:

    – Guest host “Saturday Night Live” (worked for Justin Timberlake)

    – Write a song with Andy Samberg (also worked for Justin Timberlake)

    – Play a victim or a perp on “Law & Order: SVU” (though it would help if he were a woman)

    – Legally change his name to Ellen Burstyn (they’ll check off her name even if they haven’t seen her performance).

Do like Community showrunner Dan Harmon as one of the several writers of Hugh Jackman’s Oscar skits.

I’d love to see this happen.

Bill Maher, always makes me laugh. He’s caustic, to the point, and quick. But, I dont see an Emmy in the cards for him this year. He’s too controversial, imo.

Anyone but Jon Stewart for the win.
