My quote-unquote “favourite” show on television is moving to TBS from FOX for a fifteen episode tenth season. Cast members have said that the only major change will be that the characters will be allowed to say the word “shit” on the air (which I don’t understand because they clearly did say that on FOX two years ago but whatever), however I am still worried since exec. producer Mike Barker will not be a part of this season. Regardless, I will keep my eccentric love of this show to a dull roar next year, but yeah I do love this show and this thread, which coincides with my Simpsons and Family Guy ones this year, will aptly show it.

    MAIN ACTORS

    • Seth MacFarlane as Stan Smith, Roger Smith and others
    • Wendy Schaal as Francine Smith
    • Scott Grimes as Steve Smith
    • Rachael MacFarlane as Hayley Smith
    • Dee Bradley Baker as Klaus Heissler

    CONFIRMED GUEST STARS (excluding reccuring)

    • Cloris Leachman
    • Alison Brie
    • Jacki Weaver
    • Steven Yeun
    • Adam DeVine
    • Kim Kardashian
    • Corey Stoll

    CONFIRMED EPISODE PLOTS

    • Jeff Fischer, Hayley’s husband, returns home from his journey in space
    • The finale of the Golden Turd saga on September 21st.

Well, I for sure wanna see the finale of the Golden Turd saga, one of the most absurd, ridicullous and hillarious thing I’ve seen on tv.

I have not gotten a lot of information about the American Dad! panel at SDCC, but I do have these little bits of information.

    • Uma Thurman will voice Francine’s step-sister Gwen in a forthcoming episode.
    • Each TBS episode will feature a cold opening, and they will be allowed to say the word “shit” twice in an episode.
    • TBS has already renewed it for another season, but this season will start airing on Mondays, starting Octoher 30th.

Official synopsis of “Roger Passes the Bar”, “A Boy Named Michael” and “Blagsnarst: A Love Story”, set to air September 21st (for the first two episodes) and 28th (for the final FOX episode).

From the Futon Critic: http://thefutoncritic.com/listings/20140819fox18/ and http://thefutoncritic.com/listings/20140826fox20/

“Roger is forced to sell his beloved bar to a restaurant chain after suffering a heart attack, and a sexy new neighbor of Steve’s promises to take him and his friend’s virginity in exchange for housework. Then Roger moves in with Greg and Terry as their new Russian adoptive son named Michael. Guest voices: Jane Krakowski and John Lutz”

“Roger and Francine discover and alien in the woods and Roger capriciously has a one-night relationship with her before being fed up with her quirks. He tries getting rid of her by calling the CIA, but realizes he can’t go through with it. Also, the next chapter in the Golden Turd saga. Guest voices: Kim Kardashian, Corey Stoll and Steven Yeun”

Interesting how all three of the final FOX episodes involve Roger in the primary plot. Probably just a coincidence though.

This will be the episode that I will skip and just read the reviews in this thread lol. I will never understand her appeal. Yeah she is pretty but nothing much else there.

While I do agree with you, I don’t completely hate her, or frankly any celebrity that has garnered a mass amount of hatred (Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, etc.). I heard that the only reason she got the job of playing Roger’s love interest in the episode was because she and Kanye were fans of the show. And don’t you worry, I will review every episode this season on this thread, even this one, and will make sure to not leave anyone in the dark.

Thoughts on “Roger Passes the Bar” and “A Boy Named Michael”

Both hilarious episodes. Loved the first episode, while the second episode stuttered a bit. Both episodes feature great performances from Seth MacFarlane as Roger. The first episode also showcased a wonderful Jane Krakowski in a guest role, and the second one also put the side characters of Greg and Terry to good use. Great start to the season.

    “Roger Passes the Bar”: B+
    “A Boy Named Michael”: B-

    Great start to the season.

Your use of “season” made me think of am Emmy question.  Not that they would do this, but if either of the episodes’ writers wanted to enter it in the Comedy Series Writing category, would it be eligible, considering that Fox is airing the first three episodes and then, after a month or so’s break, TBS is airing the rest?  Or would ATAS treat the Fox episodes as separate, and since there were not six of them, they would not qualify as a “series”?

The second episode also brought out one of my complaints about most animation in general; selective aging – Ling on The Simpsons, Luanne and Hank Jr. on King of the Hill, Meg and Chris on Family Guy, and now Liberty Belle (“Libby”) on American Dad (yes, Francine did age an entire year in “Tears of a Clooney,” but they pretty much retconned her back to 39), get older while nobody else on the show does.  (Meg has gone from 16 to 18, but Stewie is still just one year old.)

I think it’s going to qualify as a regular series. That micro season with only three FOX episodes was just a snafu of having three holdover episodes at the end of the ninth FOX season and not allowing TBS to air the remainder of the episodes. I will consider all 18 episodes as one full season just to simplify, but I think that it’ll be a regular series.

Age on animated series are weird. Apparently in animated series, you can age whatever characters you want for the sake of writing. Like how so many characters get birthday episodes and yet don’t age and it’s just for the sake of having a present-related plotline or something like that. It kinda gives me a headache, but I like that they age on AD!, even if the rest of the characters don’t.

Roger passes the bar was hilarious.
The second episode is the one I liked the most, the FINGER. lol ! the bathroom scene killed me, perfect.
” I can tell by looking at them that they’re the type to nod like they understand, and then go right…
    back… to talking. ”

    HAHA.
