Has anyone watched season two’s first two episodes yet?
I was worried in Episode 1 with all the stories floating around, but in Episode 2, they seemed to straighten it out.
Highmore seems to be more comfortable in this role, which is good. I just hope they tone it down on Dylan’s storyline to concentrate on the Norma/Norman relationship that they set up so well in Season 1March 11, 2014 at 1:46 pm #312678
Highmore and Farmiga were both spectacular in the first episode. The Bradley story wasn’t doing anything for me until those last couple of scenes: then, whoa!March 12, 2014 at 11:16 am #312679
It’s great to see Kenny Johnson back on television!! I’ve been missing him since The ShieldMarch 13, 2014 at 1:08 am #312680
I thought the scene where Norma and Norman argue outside the audition was pretty riveting. She played the song perfectly too. It was a bit sappy and then she somehow roped you in. Farmiga is a great talent.March 13, 2014 at 4:14 pm #312681
Two words: VERA FARMIGA. It’s a shame it seems she isn’t in the Emmy mix anymore because she does consistenly great work. Her “Maybe This Time” was completely riveting and that scene where she told off the committee head was perfect. She’s the only reason I’m watching this show.March 17, 2014 at 9:14 am #312682
Just caught the second episode. Man, that could be a submission for Farmiga. Between the “I’m so scared” scene and the audition, she was just magic. There was also the tender/creepy moment singing “Mr. Sandman” with Norman. Phenomenal work.March 26, 2014 at 1:54 pm #312683
Day-um, Farmiga is sick killing it this season. Every single episode has had great material for her and she’s just nailing it.
I like the show itself this year, too. It’s good creepy melodrama that doesn’t rocket-launch itself over the top *coughAmericanHorrorStorycough*. Certainly not in consideration for any series/writing, etc. Emmys, but even more than last year, so far Farmiga deserves a Lead Actress slot.March 26, 2014 at 6:58 pm #312684
I have not started it yet, but Farmiga gives one of my favorite 3 female performances. I find her brilliant in that role and I´m not exagerating. If she doesn´t get nominated, and she wont, I´ll die…just die….April 11, 2014 at 10:40 pm #312685
Bump for the new “Vera Farmiga is doing brilliant work on Bates Motel this year” thread by RobertPius.May 28, 2014 at 5:08 pm #312686
Just caught up with the finale.
I understand that flamboyant overstatements and praisies are wearing, for sure, but, my God, Farmiga is reaching a whole new level here.
I couldn’t stop myself replacing Lizzy Caplan with her in the prediction center.June 1, 2014 at 10:05 pm #312687
Just finished this season and the show has improved leaps and bounds. The show’s money shot continues to be the stories mined from the Norma/Norman mythology. Both Freddie and Vera’s performances have also improved with the latter actually being awards worthy. They need to abandon the drug storylines. As a viewer, they come off amateurish especially since I have been spoiled on “Breaking Bad”.
The show is officially my “guilty pleasure” list and hopefully I’ll be able to say that in season 3.
