Figured I’d start this with the premiere a little over 3 weeks away. Obviously we knew at the end of S2 that Gus would be a part of the story this season, but the promos have confirmed that Giancarlo Esposito will actually appear. My prediction is that he won’t have a full on supporting role this year because it could be too distracting, but who knows? It seems like he’s primed for a standalone ep revealing a little more of his backstory though. Bob Odenkirk also confirmed that we’ll see “Saul Goodman” this season, so that should satisfy those who have complained that he hasn’t appeared yet. I think S2 was a big uptick in quality compared to S1, and I expect another uptick this season. What do you guys think? What do you want to see happen this season? What other BB characters do you think will make an appearance? Discuss!

I’m glad to hear Banks has a more central focus this year! I’m expecting this season to be the break-out season of the show. Based on this interview, it’s hard to tell how large Esposito’s role is. Probably guest?

I was thinking guest as well, but now I’m not so sure. They’re really promoting the hell out of him being in this season, so maybe he appears in more than 5. I know that he doesn’t make his first appearance until ep 2 though.

Listening to Sepinwall’s podcast and it sounds like there is an entire act without dialogue that follows Mike. Sounds self-indulgent. It also sounds like Saul is not going to really meet Gus for consistency with Breaking Bad, which is cool. Also, the season opens the same way as the past two seasons at Cinnabon.

This was honestly THE most boring hour of television I’ve watched this entire TV season. Holy F! Slow, dull, zero progress and limited set-up … it was the visual form of a horse tranquilizer. That said Rhea Seehorn told us that this was sort of an experiment and episode 2 really takes off, plus she’s in it a lot. So, I’ll stick around.

Can I ask what you thought of the pace of show so far overall? Are you one of the people that thought it’s been too slow, or is it just this episode you have that problem with?

I doubt it’s any “slower” than usual. I have never had a problem with the pacing of the show and doubt I will for the premiere.

The pacing so far has been completely perfect.

Couldn’t agree more! I’ve been totally engaged throughout
