I’m struggling to envision a scenario where Odenkirk doesn’t have the best leading man performance of the year. He displayed pretty much everything tonight and that final scene was sooooo good. All around solid episode, and the preview for next week looked awesome!

That scenario is called the Leftovers.

Oh crap yeah I was thinking of just the main contenders for nominations. But it’s almost unfair to compare anything to The Leftovers since it’s basically perfection.

Wow. Honestly Odenkirk should win. I joked about the Leftovers earlier but that last scene was on point. Easily his submission. I think this is his year. Honestly, we talk about how competitive lead actor is, but it’s actually weak as fuck. Chandler, eh. Malek, old news. Spacey, ugh. Schrieber, ok. The only person I could see beating Odenkirk right now out of realistic nominees is Brown. Unless Theroux wows us by sneaking in. Seahorn was great. The episode was hilarious. The secretary was funny. The Gus scene was hilarious. The Mike cliffhanger was Intriguing. My grade: A.

Odenkirk definitely deserves a win after tonight.

I’ve been saying Odenkirk is going to win for months now, is everyone else finally going to get on board?

This was one of those BCS episodes with some long scenes where just nothing at all was happening. On the other hand, I was impressed that the other shoe dropped already with Chuck’s tape. I had been conditioned to expect that to linger for a while, so that was a pleasant surprise. Good work by Odenkirk for sure. And well played with Gus’ appearance.

I certainly hope Odenkirk finally wins this year, though I’m not sure this week’s episode would necessarily be the greatest of tapes. Still, this was solid. It’s the Banks stuff that isn’t much resonating with me so far – looks and feels like microwaved Breaking Bad.

Good ending, but those scenes of Mike driving around had me wondering if I would be able to hold strong through the next two and a half seasons.

I could watch Mike sitting in his chair watching old movies for the rest of my life.

Finally watched the episode. That ending!!! So good. Bob Odenkirk could definitely win with that episode. Rhea was always amazing. I love when those 2 are onscreen together.

And I agree that Lead Actor is actually a pretty weak category. Sterling K. Brown or Bob Odenkirk are my top picks right now. Rami was incredible, but I don’t feel like he has a chance. And I love Matthew Rhys, but from what I’ve seen this season — nothing stands out (though I’m behind 4 episodes).

Lotus 1 2 3 is a good showcase for Rhys but it’s no where near the levels of Brown and Odenkirk. It’ll definatley be Brown V Odenkirk this year.

There’s still quite a bit of BCS and The Americans left, plus House of Cards is still to air. If it turns out to be better than expected and/or the the final season then we can’t count out Kevin Spacey. Also, don’t underestimate how much they love Chandler.

Chandler has only won one Emmy and was snubbed of a nomination for the first three seasons of FNL. So they don’t love him enough to underestimate him.

I won’t predict Spacey to win until it happens. Every year everyone says that this is his year, and then it doesn’t happen. HoC fell out of ensemble at SAG so it is losing industry love.

I think we are underestimating Schrieber. Honestly, I have him in higher than Rhys. He’s surprised everybody lately. He’s been getting more and more nominations and he had a really good season acting wise.

I too can fathom Schreiber (and maybe even Voight, once Lithgow’s gone) eventually prevailing.
