I’m surprised nobody else has started this topic!
Season 8, ineligible for last year’s Emmys, is in contention next year.
The season premiere was July 10, 2011, and the finale was September 11, 2011. (2011-09-11). (2011-07-10),October 7, 2011 at 6:00 pm #231618
Even though I did enjoy this season, I found it wasn’t as good as the last three seasons.
Although I expect nominations for Best Comedy Series and Best Comedy Actor for Larry David, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was looked over this year for Series (however, it has been nominated for all of its seasons except the first season).
I do think that Susie Essman has a good shot at being nominated for Best Supporting Actress, as she was credited as part of the main cast this year (in previous years, she was a guest star).October 7, 2011 at 6:26 pm #231619
We had a pretty good thread going about it on the old forums. Fully expect it to be up for directing (maybe two) and Larry David. Outside shots for Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman, only because the show was buzzier this season. Same deal for guest actress (Rosie O’Donnell) and guest actor (Bob Einstein, Richard Lewis, J.B. Smoove—ignoring him would be criminal, but who knows with the Emmy people).
For comedy series, they’ve got uproarious, insane episodes like “The Safe House,” “Larry vs. Michael J. Fox” and especially “Palestinian Chicken.”October 7, 2011 at 7:33 pm #231620
I agree about JB Smoove. He should have been nominated the last two seasons. I’m glad he was on this year, but I’m not sure if his material was as showy as in previous years. Hopefully he does get a nomination though. Sadly, I think Michael J. Fox has a better shot at a guest nomination just because he’s Michael J. Fox.
Ricky Gervais is also a contender for guest actor, and perhaps Cheryl Hines (unless, for some reason, she submits Supporting).October 7, 2011 at 8:34 pm #231621
I loved this season of Curb. It was one great episode after another. “Safe House” and “Palestinian Chicken” were definately the funniest episodes. I can`t count how many times I had to rewind scenes to watch them again. I think it will be nominated for series, Larry David, directing, and maybe even guest actor.March 10, 2012 at 7:32 pm #231622
Is there going to be a season 9? I really hope there is one!!!!!!!! What do you guys think?March 11, 2012 at 8:11 pm #231623
I haven’t heard from season 9 yet, but I believe considering the big success and excellent critics reviews from season 8, it’s definetely going to happen.
Btimp, I believe someone here on the forum answered a question of mine about writing nods for Curb, I think it was Brilliance, that the show has a kind of structure that’s not based on a script, I don’t remember what Brilliance told me it was, but It wasn’t nominated for this past 7 seasons so it’s probably true, but Palestinian Chicken should win Directing, it was the funniest episode I’ve seen last year, and I believe J.fox is in, that scene with him openning the soda on Larry’s face was something so funny I rolled on the floor laughing.
And that scene with Susan having that Orgasm on Larry’s passenger sit, was sooooo funny, if she’s nominated, she totally deserves it.
Jeff Garlin on the Frozen Yougurt episode was something also to consider, he was very good there, but I think the competition for him is too hard.
Anyway, I think it’s getting in for Series, Actor, and Directing for at least two episodes, Mr. Softee, Smiley Face,Larry David vs Michael J.Fox and Safe House are serious contenders and it will get some nods for guest actors.
