Hulu’s newest (and thus far, biggest) series, “Difficult People,” premiered yesterday with the first two episodes going online, and subsequent episodes being uploaded every Wednesday. The series was created by Julie Klausner and stars her and Billy Eichner, as well as James Urbaniak and Andrea Martin. The official synopsis reads: “Life is really tough for Julie and Billy, two 30-something aspiring comics living and working in New York City. While their friends and acquaintances move on to find success and love, they continue to struggle with careers and relationships, getting more bitter by the day.”

I watched the first two episodes yesterday and I really liked it. I was already a fan of Eichner, and if you like him, you’ll really love him here. He’s even a bit less grating than his appearance on “Parks and Recreation” and his reality show “Billy on the Street.” I wasn’t immediately sold on Klausner as the lead actress, although her writing is great. There are a lot of throwaway one-liners that made me laugh out loud. If you’re not up to date with your pop culture happenings, some of the biggest laughs might be lost on you. I’ll definitely keep watching, but I wanted to see if anyone else had checked the show out and had any thoughts. Here are the synopses for the first two episodes:

    Episode 1: “Pilot”
Julie and Billy come up with an entrepreneurial scheme to sell bottled library water-fountain water and Julie gets in trouble for a controversial tweet.

    Episode 2: “Devil’s Three-Way”
Julie seeks out an old high school crush, and brings him to bed with her and Arthur. Meanwhile, Billy finds a father-figure in Denise’s husband, Nate.

Loved the show. Looks like Hulu found its equivelent to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

I thought it was pretty funny. No where near Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I enjoyed the celebrity quips, very Billy-on-the-street-esque. The characters are so unlikeable I couldn’t get through the first couple episodes in one sitting. A lot of humor is at their expense, which made it hard to root for these characters. Its kinda funny, just not my cup of tea.

I love this show so much. Bummed I have to order Hulu to watch it but it’s too good to ignore. The writing is amazing and Billy and Julie are dynamite

Just ordered Hulu so I binged the rest of the show right away. Best show of the year so far. It’s tied with Kimmy Schmidt and The Affair/Good Wife could over come it but it is just so brilliant and up my wheel house comedy wise. All of the celeb cameos were wonderful and the guest stars were great. I want more of this show right away! Hopefully the Globes can embrace Hulu as they have with Netflix and Amazon. It might be wishful thinking to predict this to get in there but I wouldn’t say it’s out of the question
