This looks like it belongs on Showtime.

I must admit, I’m really excited for this. I’m a huge Laura Dern fan, and it seems like it’s a real showcase for her.

It does, right. There must be something to it that made HBO pick it up.

    It’s probably a real comedy.

Please…the only reason people think this belongs on Showtime is because it’s “that” movie actress that went to t.v

And if this is any good, we’ll have a loooong way until the Emmys next year with people complaining “it’s a drama”, “it’s a comedy”, “it’s a dramedy”, “first Collette, then Falco”, “well Laura Linney didnt’ win”, “like the Showtime ladies”, “Amy Poehler should win because Laura Dern is not funny”, “well it’s not Best Comedic Actress it’s Best Actres in a COMEDY”

To be honest, when I saw the earlier trailers, my thought was “why isn’t this on Showtime?”

As right as Benito is, I don’t think the argument will apply to this show. I think this will be a comedy that plays for laughs. Unlike Falco, Linney and Collette, Dern is funny. She’s played numerous comedic roles before.

HBO isn’t big on dramedy anyway. With the exception of Hung and Entourage, most of their comedies have been LOL funny like Eastbound and Down, Curb, and Conchords.

I probably won’t stick around for this one, but I think I’ll check it out. HBO really does comedy well, and I’m betting that this could have some promise.

I hope I’m wrong, I love Laura Dern.

Here’s a link to The Hollywood Reporter’s very positive review.

Enlightened pulls in an impressive 78 out of 100 on metacritic. However, the show is labeled comedy AND drama. Let the games begin.

A mixed review from Variety, but that’s the only one so far.

As Beau said, the show is doing very well over at Metacritic.
