I have seen the first three episodes, and it’s going to be a fun ride this year.

    Expect something unexpected right away!

I really hope and pray that what you are saying Boomer is true.  I love watching TV and watch a lot of it, and I do not think there was a single show that was a bigger dissapointment in 2014 than Justified was.  Especially after a top notch fourth season, which some may argue was their best ever (I still choose season 2 mostly because of Margo Martindale) man was season 5 an absolute dud.

For lack of a better term, Justified truly felt like a shell of itself last season.  It started okay, but the seeds they sewed at the beginning of the season never really blossomed.  The show actually felt tired and old, and not to mention repetitive.  Whether it be the misfire of the whole Crowe plot, the disaster of a storyline with Ava/Joelle Carter (who was so outstanding in season 4), or the nothingness of Boyd Crowders storyline, season 5 never really went anywhere.  Not to mention the lead character on the show, Raylan Givens, has actually become the most one note and boring character on the show.

It appears that Ava has a major plotline this season, and I’m really hoping she does.  Joelle Carter has proven more than capable as Ava, and she deserves better than what she had last year.  Honestly at times with her in prison it almost felt like she was on an entirely different show.  She needs to be front and center in the action, where she truly shines.  At times I have found her to be the most compelling character on the show.

And please do something with Boyd Crowder.  Whether he makes the big time or goes out in a blaze of glory, please give him something to actually do.  I am tired of seeing him spinning his wheels trying to be a big time criminal.  He has been doing that for two years now and nothing has really changed for him.  Despite that, Walton Goggins has still done a fantastic job.  At this point he has actually become my favorite character and the one who I am rooting for.

For whatever reason this show seems to do best in even numbered seasons.  While season three was not bad by any means, seasons 2 and 4 were outstanding.  I’m really hoping season 6 is more of those, and far away from the absolute dud that was season 5.  Honestly my expectations are pretty low (that is how extremely dissapointed I was in season 5) but maybe I will be surprised and Justified will go out in top form.

I was also very disappointed with last season. It truly felt like they were stalling everything and everybody until they could reach the final season. For me, these first three episodes were lots of fun, full of crackling dialogue, surprises, great guest stars (will not spoil those in case you don’t know), and real menace. I hope the rest of the way is just as good.

^Good to hear.  Especially the part about the crackling dialogue.  That is one thing I missed a ton in season 5.  Justified never got enough credit for it’s writing.  Not only has it been an excellent and well written drama, the show was always surprisingly funny.  It kind of reminds me of Mad Men in that it’s not a comedy by any means, but sometimes I laugh more during this show than I do most comedies.  And like Mad Men, Justified is not necessarily laugh out loud funny, but the dialogue was always so sharp, witty, and subversive that you could not help but to laugh.

Despite my lowered expectations, I am highly encouraged and excited by what you have said.  Although it may not have ever won many Emmy awards, when Justified was at it’s best it was some of the best TV on air.  Hopefully they can reach those heights once again.

^ I totally agree, if that was Damon Herriman’s last appearance as Dewey Crowe, then he sure went out in fine form.  Along with the rest of the cast, he was excellent and that might have been some of his best work on the show.  Not to mention he was hilarious as always.

What a great start to the final season of Justified.  Now this is the Justified I knew and loved from the first four seasons.  Joelle Carter deserves a special mention as well, along with Damon Herriman.  She was absolutely terrific last night as the now compromised Ava.  It appears she will be front and center this season, carrying most of the emotional weight of the show.  And that is where she ought to be.  Walton Goggins was in fine form as well, as the always entertaining and loquacious Boyd Crowder.  The two of them really do have amazing chemistry together.  I cannot wait to see how their tale unfolds this season.

Again, I have to say I am 100% tired and over Raylon Givens as a character and especially his antics.  He has become so one note and boring that he almost brings the show down.  I understand what an anti-hero is, but sadly there is no reason for me to root for him or like him anymore.  He is not so much a hero as he is an asshole.  I am not sure if it is a bad thing or not, but at this point I find myself rooting much more for Boyd and Ava than Raylan.  Still it will be interesting to see where he ends up and whether he gets the happy ending he thinks he wants.  Maybe he will get his just desserts along with everyone else on the show.

Loved this episode, Choo-Choo was just fantastic. Oh the humor hahahha.  I hope Dillahunt’s character doesn’t gett offed soon, I want see him be good in this show and earn award attention.   Boyd(Goggins) is some scaryshit villain.

This has been a really fantastic start. That premiere packed a punch, and the second has me confident that we should be seeing this series out well.

Also, it felt unnatural seeing both Sam Elliott without facial hair and Brad Leland with it.
