Title: “Dave Returns”
Synopsis: Leslie and Ben run into Dave (Louis C.K.) while meeting with the Chief of Police. Andy searches for a song to represent Leslie’s campaign.February 16, 2012 at 1:35 pm #238753
Also, Amy Poehler has written and directed the episode “The Debate” which will feature, as the name suggests, a debate.February 16, 2012 at 6:59 pm #238754
I thought this was a good episode. Louis C.K. was solid as the guest star. I did like when Dave handcuffed Ben in the bathroom and told him that he brought it on himself. I thought Chris singing was hilarious because he was so bad. Seeing everybody`s reaction to it was good as well. I liked how Ben was so scared of all the police officers. I also liked how Tom didn`t give up with Ann. Tom finally drove Ann nuts enough to where she agreed to go on another date with him.

I thought that this episode was hysterically funny and if Adam Scott manages to get nominee he should submit this episode and Louie will be nominated for guest star in a comedy series, they gave him a lot to work with and he was excellent within it, that’s how good I thought this episode was. April momments with Jerry were fantastic, mainly the plate drum thing which was hilarious.
Edit: Did anyone else noticed that some of the cast members seemed to be using a awful kind of makeup? or that was just me?February 16, 2012 at 9:41 pm #238756
This was one of the weaker points of the season. The A-plot was ok, but had problems. Louis C.K was very funny, and Ben’s fear of cops was pretty funny too, but Dave was significantly dumber than he was in s2 (which I only watches this summer so I rember that pretty well), and less sweet, too. That being said, it worked overall, which I cannot say about the two other plotlines. There were one or two good moments in the Andy storyline, but the Duke Silver return was overall very disappointing. As for Ann and Tom… it wasn’t funny, and it doesn’t make sense for Ann to agree to a second date, honestly.
But hey, Louis C.K was very funny, and Adam Scott was good, so it’s still a decent episode.

This was an enjoyable episode, and I know that I really liked it. The only problem I have, in this is something that will never change, is that I’ll always prefer Dave. He’s like Victoria on How I Met Your Mother. I’ll always prefer them because there’s something so genuine about their integration into their respective shows. Now, I like Adam Scott and I really do like Ben Wyatt, but it would have been nice, albeit somewhat cliche, if Leslie had been more conflicted.
Still, very solid episode. Louis C.K. is amazing.February 17, 2012 at 5:21 am #238758
I don’t care for the Ann/Tom thing at all, so I’m voting we flush that plot now. Loved the Ben/Leslie stuff and April protecting Ron’s “secret” was good for some laughs.
I really enjoyed Louis C.K. here–I was surprised how much, since I dislike his F/X show (please don’t stone me to death).February 17, 2012 at 7:15 am #238759
Adam Scott and Louis C.K. were the MVPs for this episode. I really enjoyed the A-plot. Ben and Dave are just so awkward that I couldn’t help but enjoy their scenes. Ben’s fear of cops is funny, and I like that the show lets their straight man go over-the-top sometimes. I am not really feeling the Tom/Ann relationship yet, but I don’t completely hate it either. Aziz is doing a good job with the storyline, but we need to see more of why Ann would even contemplate dating a guy that she seems to be so little attracted to. I always enjoy Ron and April’s interactions, so I liked the Duke Silver subplot too.February 17, 2012 at 7:45 am #238760
I liked the episode, but it does feel weaker than a lot of others this season. Ben, Dave, and Leslie were pretty great, although I did find myself wondering if Dave wasn’t shortchanged as a character. I LOVED him in season two, but I guess making him as lovable now would be a problem for Ben, who I also love. The Ann and Tom thing feels like they’ve both run out of storylines so, hey, why not. And there’s nowhere else for Ann to go. She’s dated Andy, the now gone Mark, and Chris, and now Tom. Next season she’ll be involved with Ron and get into a fight with Tammy 2. Speaking of Ron, I always enjoy his interactions with Andy and April, so that was fun.February 17, 2012 at 7:50 am #238761
Not a particularly good episode. Too many jokes/bits fell flat. I did like CK. I’m kinda rooting for Tom and Ann. That could be a cute lil thing as long as they tone down Tom a bit when he interacts with Ann.February 17, 2012 at 8:01 am #238762
This episode reminds me of one of the earlier episodes in which Ben (along with CK in this one) were the only real upsides. Definitely one of the weaker episodes of the season outside of Ben and Dave. I’m also on board with Tom and Ann but only if they can manage to tone him down a bit and make him less of a cartoon.February 17, 2012 at 10:17 am #238763
I think the show would do well to remember that the 720 plot didn’t work. Tom should definitely be a supporting character–when he has to carry stories, it seems to throw the show off balance. He works much better as a foil.
