I’m gonna give this a shot since Im a fan of Kerry Washington.April 5, 2012 at 7:12 pm #242169
I am a Kerry Washington fan but the first few minutes of this turned me off. Will try to watch again if it gets positive feedback here…April 5, 2012 at 10:57 pm #242170
This is one of my issues w/Shonda Rhimes. She makes such a big to do about her shows not being soap operas, but the reason she has that paper and is one of the prolific showrunners in the game b/c her baby was/is a soap opera. This was no different, esp w/that backstory w/Olivia and the president (RME and I wonder what the real life lady that inspired the character has to say about this). British TV model my ass! This has that same low rent Gilmore Girls type dialogue (speaking of, hey Paris!) like w/all of her shows and a random ensemble that works. I have to say even though I wish Kerry Washington had a better vehicle, it looks like she’ll be getting a paycheck for at least a midseason. Don’t think I can buy her as a lead, but she acted the hell out of moments like when Olivia read Paris like a church mother at Sunday school.
Might give this another look next wk.April 6, 2012 at 11:49 am #242171
The commercials for the show were enough to turn me off. With lines such as, “the further you go, the more crazy good it gets,” the further I go from wanting to watch. Pass.April 7, 2012 at 3:10 pm #242172
Check this out: http://www.goldderby.com/forum/topics/view/2080 you all will like this. Even if you are a fan of Kerry Washington.April 8, 2012 at 3:33 pm #242173
The pilot had its moments, most of them because of Washington, so I’ll be sticking around.April 8, 2012 at 3:48 pm #242174
The pilot was better than I expected. I have really enjoyed Washington’s work in the past, especially Boston Legal and Race, so I decided to watch predominatly to see her, and she doesn’t disappoint. Most of the time, she was able to elevate the material – while some of the plot is contrived, there were very subtle moments that allowed Washington to shine, i.e. her crying in the restaurant coat closet. I thought that was a shining moment for her.

3 episodes in and I’m definitely enjoying it. Yes it is soapy, but the individual cases have been very interesting with some nice twists, and the overall arc is building nicely. Really enjoying Washington in this.
