Victor Fresco is incredibly talented (RIP Better Off Ted!) but that trailer just cratered my interest in the show. I’ll probably still check it out though.May 14, 2013 at 10:39 am #276609
I give it a season.May 14, 2013 at 11:08 am #276610
I loved Better Off Ted, but this is an awful trailer.May 14, 2013 at 11:33 am #276611
Disgustingly awful. I give it 6-10 eps tops.May 14, 2013 at 11:41 am #276612
It like hayes has to keep reminding himself “I playing the lead, not the over the top supporting charcter”May 14, 2013 at 12:54 pm #276613
I still don’t know how Hayes thought this show would be good.
I give it 3-4 episodes.May 14, 2013 at 1:09 pm #276614
This seems to go along with NBC’s new rebranding efforts. It has a CBS-y kind of polish to it, so that could work out well for them. I was getting some odd Will Truman vibes from Sean Hayes here, which may or may not have been intentional. When his character opened the door, part of me was wishing that Megan Mullally was behind it as Karen so they could start up their schtick again. Linda Lavin could be a scene-stealer in this role as well.May 14, 2013 at 1:15 pm #276615
CBS on NBC did work wonders for Whitney and Guys With Kids after all…May 14, 2013 at 1:21 pm #276616
I loved Sean Hayes on Will & Grace and had high hopes for his long rumoured return to series television. However this trailer was not doing it for me. The jokes were stale and particularly unfunny.
And I agree with Atypical, I was half expecting Megan Mullally to burst through the door, but alas…May 14, 2013 at 1:25 pm #276617
Never said that the rebranding was a success in the past, only that this is what they’re doing now, and it seems to be of a higher quality this time.May 14, 2013 at 1:47 pm #276618
I won’t be surprised if this is the first cancellation next fall.May 14, 2013 at 2:41 pm #276619
I actually think the way they placed in the schedule is a trap for early cancellation. Putting a multi-cam against Person Of Interest, Grey’s and Glee is bound to fail. Sean Hayes isn’t Michael J. Fox, and multi-cams outside of CBS have been struggling.May 14, 2013 at 2:51 pm #276620
I’ll watch for Sean Hayes, but this trailer really sounds like a flop.May 14, 2013 at 3:44 pm #276621
I could only get through half of the trailer. Very hacky, I agree. But I do love Linda Lavin. I feel like maybe this could be funny if someone other than Sean Hayes was doing it and it wasn’t a multi-cam (so… basically change the two biggest things about it). I agree this won’t go very far.
