Definitely my most anticipated new series of the year for several (including personal) reasons. I went to the initial screening for WB/CW/CBS execs last September for this show and saw them all react to 3 completed episodes – the reaction I witnessed matched the outcome as it was received so well that the show was pushed out of being a CW seed (digital only) show to a network series. It’s the CW’s first half hour, true Comedy series on its network in years – which is pretty awesome. And speaking of, the Pilot is one of the funniest, wittiest, and most well acted ones I’ve seen and the 3rd episode was really strong as well (the 2nd needed work, which I’m told was scratched all together).
Hoping this show is another breakout success for CW so I can cover the sh*t out of it here on GD.
Series Premiere: August 03, 2015 at 9:30p
In Significant Mother,
budding Portland restaurateur Nate’s (Josh Zuckerman) world is turned upside
down when he comes back from a business trip to find his lothario best friend
and roommate is now dating his recently separated mother, Lydia (Krista Allen).
To make matters worse, Nate’s
previously disinterested dad, Harrison (Jonathan Silverman) is now determined
to win Lydia back and isn’t afraid to use Nate to get what he wants. Stuck
between his family feud and his best friend’s first serious relationship,
Nate’s “new normal” forever changes his relationships with his
parents, and severely handicaps his own dating life.
Significant Mother was initially developed as a digital series for CW
Seed, The CW’s digital studio, before being ordered to series for the broadcast

I watched the first episode over the weekend. I liked it! I’ve loved Krista Allen since her Days of our Lives days and loved Josh Zuckerman on 90210. I didn’t find myself laughing out loud at all, but it was fun and enjoyable. I’m definitely looking forward to more.August 17, 2015 at 11:51 am #352427
SigMo held steady in week two! That’s pretty great for any show, as viewers/demos tend to drop unless you’re “Empire”.
Tonights episode (9:30p on CW) was supposed to be the Season Finale if the show had remained on the CW Seed, but since it was picked up to network it’s now episode 3 (weird).August 24, 2015 at 9:59 am #352428
Tonights all new episode pays homage to the 80’s classic: “Weekend At Bernie’s” – which starred Jonathan Silverman himself. Guest starring tonight is Bernie himself: Terry Kiser.
