The “Weekend Update: Summer Edition” debuted on Thursday night. Bill Hader’s Anthony Scaramucci was everythinggg.

Hopefully we’ll get casting changes and host information for the season premiere in the coming weeks.

    Discuss.

I think the SNL performers who had/will appear on the Weekend Update summer edition episodes will confirm who will return on the next season.

That wouldn’t account for the new featured players that are pending in light of the recent cast edits, which is what I was referring to. I’m expecting those announcements in the coming weeks.

Will the summer edition count as an extension of SNL or could it compete as its own entity? I haven’t seen it yet but if the segments are just long-form Weekend Updates wouldn’t that make it more of a Variety Talk series than a Variety Sketch series?

If this is submitted as a sketch series will the SNL regulars that are guesting on this be submitted in guest actor? Also, will Che and Jost be submitted for this or regular SNL?

Just watched weekend update. Leslie Jones was the MVP. It was okay but could’ve been funnier.

Random note: Bayer doesn’t seem too busy. She should totally host soon.

I suppose it would enter on its own. It looks like a spinoff summer show, that’s what it is. So it’s its own show. “Untucked” from RuPaul’s Drag Race got a Series nomination as a separate program, for example. It seems like Talk Series would be its categorie and SNL enters Sketch Series.

Great list. Who are y’all predicting to host SNL this season.

I am currently predicting guest noms for Baldwin, Haddish and McCarthy.

Tiffany Haddish hosting SNL is a no brainer. She got her start in standup, went to TV, and then became the MVP of a huge summer comedy. I am not only predicting that she will host but I am predicting she’ll get an Emmy nomination.

Larry David was also mentioned in the list and he might host since Curb is coming back.

A few other stars with things to promote this season are: Jonah Hill, Emma Stone, cast of Will & Grace, Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig, Tom Hanks, Sterling K Brown, Anthony Anderson, Winona Ryder, and a few others.

I’d love to see Titus Burgess host but that’s not happening.

Also, If Clinton hosted would she get an Emmy nomination?

Lol if she got nominated I’d want her to win sight unseen just to mess with Trump, would be worth it even assuming she wouldn’t actually be the best in the category

lololol I would DIE to see Clinton win an Emmy just to see Trump have a total and complete meltdown (Which he TOTALLY will, especially since he never won for the Apprentice).

Clinton hosting would be a shitshow, but I would watch it just for that reason

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.
