Whoops, forgot to post about “A Tough Pill to Swallow,” the move to Tuesday has messed my viewing schedule up a bit!
I’ve liked both of these episodes a lot! The Middle seems to still be maintaining the stride it found last year. I still love these characters and the show continues to push them all (with the exception of Brick, mostly) into new and exciting territory for a sitcom in its eighth season. They’re still hitting all of their emotional beats, too. The relationship between Mike and Sue is still a highlight; Sher and Flynn work so well together. In other good news, The Middle has been anchoring the new Tuesday comedy block really well.

The first episode was average for me but the second was a lot better, I agree that the show had a stride last year and I would have liked the middle to have taken modern familys place at the last emmys, its was so much more deservingOctober 23, 2016 at 5:11 pm #1201938472

I haven’t watched an episode of Modern Family in years, but absolutely agree with the sentiment that The Middle should have received some major Emmy recognition by this point in its run. Eden Sher should be an Emmy winner…

And ABC’s first renewal for next year is… The Middle! Citing the successful move to the lead-off Tuesday time slot where it has been a consistent performer and helped launch a new night of comedies, ABC renewed the show for a ninth season.
