So this was okay. performances were great. Chlumpsky, Dreyfus, Oberg, Richardson, Simmons, Hale, Walsh, Sutherland, Duvall, Dunn, and Scottt were all emmy worthy. The episode itself though was just okay. My grade: BnahborghiParticipantJoined:Aug 26th, 2012Topics:14Posts:998April 16, 2017 at 9:58 pm #1202068284
I can see that Stockard Channing will have some sort of arc, and I wonder if her name is big enough to make it into Guest (or even Supporting). It seems like a loud role, so… let’s wait and see.
She’s going to be on the show?
“Danny” Egan’s co-host on his new job at CBS This Morning is played by her, isn’t?nahborghiParticipantJoined:Aug 26th, 2012Topics:14Posts:998April 16, 2017 at 10:02 pm #1202068292
Also, What was up with Reid Scott. He looked really unhealthy in this.lovelylovelyParticipantJoined:Jan 15th, 2017Topics:8Posts:2493April 16, 2017 at 11:52 pm #1202068349
I know the season usually picks up after a season premiere, so i’m not worried about the tone. I absolutely hate admitting this, but Jonah Ryan shaving his head and brows to continue the ‘cancer look’ was probably my favorite thing of this episode.
That, and his on-screen meltdown while on CBS This Morning with ‘Danny’ Egan, LOL. When I saw he ended up as a co-host on CBS This Morning, I couldn’t help but think back to when he slept with Amy’s sister because he thought he heard her say she worked for CBS vs CVS.
Also, I wonder if we’re gonna see/hear more of Selina’s “spa trip” post-presidency, or if it’s just going to be subtly referenced.

I really missed you, Veep! This really is the only show which never has me not laughing for longer than 30 seconds. I’ll try to watch it again tomorrow because there was a lot of nuance and details, especially in professional dynamics and power clashing in certain scenes that are new to the show, and make sense entirely. (Reid Scott totally nailed his character’s manipulative impulses during and after that Jonah interview.) The sex scene was one of the highlights of this episode for me.
I don’t think JLD has ever looked this gorgeous.
PS: David Mandel’s timeline on Twitter is a must-read after every episode.zackfinsParticipantJoined:Nov 30th, 2010Topics:0Posts:977April 17, 2017 at 9:17 am #1202068749
I didn’t know that Sufe Bradshaw wasn’t going to be on the show this season. I noticed her name missing from the closing credits last night and then this morning read that she had to take the season off for a “personal matter”.BamaEdParticipantJoined:Nov 3rd, 2010Topics:16Posts:1248April 17, 2017 at 1:28 pm #1202068951
I’m in the OK only camp. I didn’t love last season as much as the previous ones and not as much as folks on here. I think the change in showrunners took it in a direction I didn’t like overall. JLD had a great showcase episode but I was let down overall by the season. This didn’t instill much confidence. I liked the Dan/Jonah storyline the most. I could stand a season of watching Reid Scott go up against Margaret Colin though haha. The other storylines didn’t do it for me. I think a 30 minute show isn’t the forum for 4-5 different storylines. 2 minutes of Gary Cole is never enough, same with 3 of Kevin Dunn. I also think that separated from each other, the profanity of the dialogue doesn’t flow as well. It works perfectly in their bubble but not isolated in the real world. Overall, it just didn’t fully click for me. I will be interested to see where the season heads though.moviefan61794ParticipantJoined:Oct 17th, 2011Topics:15Posts:1376April 17, 2017 at 1:39 pm #1202068962

An okay episode, but you claim eleven of the cast members deserve an Emmy for their work?April 17, 2017 at 2:05 pm #1202068979
All of the actors are hilarious. Even on a terrible episode they’re great, but the episode itself was just okay.DenisParticipantJoined:Oct 14th, 2011Topics:65Posts:4603April 17, 2017 at 2:41 pm #1202068987

Laurie will make at least one guest appearance (Chris confirmed with HBO that he’s being submitted in the Guest Actor category), but since they’re both out of office now he’s not longer a full time cast member.
