Did anyone watch this on PBS last week?

I think it is absolutely hilarious, and I am ecstatic that a brilliant actor like Ian McKellen has grabbed a TV show.

Will this show be eligible for the Emmy awards next year? I know it probably won’t get any, but it would be interesting to see Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi going up against the likes of Jim Parsons

I saw it on you tube. Only one episode was available. I saw it before it aired on PBS. I really liked it. In England  I believe it got mixed reviews with some critics loving it and others hating it. I’m not sure if it is eligible. I think in order to be eligible it has to be an an American co production. For example Dowton Abbey i believe was co produced by WGBH the Boston PBS affiliate.

Vicious got a 7.8 out of 10 on IMDb and got 75% on Rotton Tomatoes.

Tv Guide said it was creepy in style and attitude while the NY Daily News said it’s a breath of fresh air so i guess you can see how it might be polarizing

I’ve already seen the first season and must say I was pleasantly surprised. Both Jacobi and McKellen are the top of their game. And Frances de la Tour is an absolute scene-stealer. I also love Marcia Warren as Penelope. She’s a hoot!

I just watched some clips of this show on youtube. Ian McKellen has the whole Maggie Smith Downton Abbey thing going for him. But I don’t think it’s eligible for the Emmys. I think the rule is that you need at least a co production credit in the US. Vicious doesn’t have that. Perhaps Ian McKellen will surprise with a Globe nomination.
