So far this award season, Orange Is the New Black has had a strange run of luck; getting no Globe nominations and winning the SAG Ensemble Award (I’m assuming it’s Globe’s snubs had to due with eligibility dates?).
So my question is, considering how acclaimed its most recent season was, how is OITNB going to do at Emmy’s 2017, in your opinion? Is it a major contender or is it going to lose out to edgier and more “current” series? At one point it was alongside House of Cards, a primary source of Netflix’s success at award shows; but with newer programs like The Crown and Stranger Things competing, is OITNB going to be overlooked?
OITNB should win, but unfortunately, it will probobly be ignored. It could get acting nominations, but not more than that.
It’ll suck that its brilliant 4th season won’t get the recognition that it deserves, but I still feel like it can sneak its way into a few categories. Drama Series is a possibility, and it’s probably getting a few acting nods in supporting.
Other than Uzo Aduba, who is lucky her category is basically empty thanks to Game of Thrones, it is mostly done at the Emmys.
