It was announced today that The Simpsons would be getting a plastic makeover in a May 4th episode done entirely with Legos. While it probably won’t be as awesome or cool as The Lego Movie, this sounds like a great potential submission for the series. What other possible Best Animated Program submissions stand out to you?

    So far I have:

    American Dad: Minstrel Krampus
    Archer: White Elephant
    Family Guy: Life of Brian
    Futurama: Meanwhile
    The Legend of Korra: Beginnings
The Looney Tunes Show: Here Comes the Pig
    Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel
    South Park: Black Friday
    Toy Story of Terror

Assuming all these episodes get submitted, I’m going to have a very hard time singling out just five as my personal favorites. And with new episodes of American Dad, Archer, Family Guy, and the Simpsons airing after the Olympics are over, there’s probably more greatness to come. What a terrific year for animation in television.

All I want is The Legend of Korra to pull a Spirited Away and win

Yep, The Legend of Korra. And it should use “Beginnings” as its submission episode.

I love animated television. I think it deserves a better rap than most people make it out for. I am stoked for new Animation Domination in March!

The Simpsons won’t submit “Brick Like Me” (the Lego episode) – they tried to do the same for Treehouse of Horror VI back in the 90s (it had the groundbreaking Homer3, which they thought could nab it a win for them, but they lost to Pinky and the Brain. They usually have won for their more sentimental episodes as opposed to the more experimental ones.

Married to the Blob is a good submission, mainly because it has a tribute to Hayao Miyazaki.
