This category is crazy competitive this year. We have 5 of the returning 6, Henson, Davis, Wright, Danes, and Russel. Plus, we have Foy, Woods, and Ryder who are bound to kick some people out. And depending on the success of their show, we might also have Elisabeth Moss and Christine Baranski. Who knows who else might become a competitor.

    1. Claire Foy – The Crown (SAG + GG wins are undeniable, guaranteed drama series nominee)

    2. Winona Ryder – Stranger Things (Globe and SAG nominee, guaranteed drama series nominee, show is over performing at guilds)

    3. Robin Wright – House of Cards (Big name, returning nominee, critics choice, SAG nod, popular show among the actor’s branch, potential drama series nominee)

    4. Keri Russel – The Americans (Globe nod, returning nominee, the show is surging at the Emmys, potential drama series nominee)

    5. Evan Rachel Wood – Westworld (Critics win, globe nod, guaranteed drama series nominee)

    6. Claire Danes – Homeland (Returning nominee, wasn’t snubbed by SAG, potential drama series nominee)

I haven’t been able to confirm anything yet, but curious as to where you all think the following should be submitted?

    – Millie Bobby Brown, “Stranger Things”
    – Winona Ryder, “Stranger Things”
    – Mandy Moore, “This Is Us”

Pretty sure that Ryder will be lead, Brown will be supporting. I have a feeling Moore will try to get lead and it won’t work out. Metz will get in over her if she’s in supporting.

I expect them to stay where they were at the Globes, so Ryder in lead, Brown in supporting and everyone from This is Us in supporting like Modern Family and Game of Thrones. Ryder is supporting, but I think that she can get nominated either way. Brown and Moore can only get nominated if they go supporting.

    3. Robin Wright – House of Cards (Big name, returning nominee, Sag nod, popular show among the actor’s branch, potential drama series nominee)

Ryder did not get a Critics’ Choice nomination, but Wright did.

I wouldn’t be too sure on any of this, which is why I’m wanting to see where you all think they should be placed. So you say Ryder should go Lead, Millie Supporting, and Moore supporting?

Agreed on Ryder and Moore, but I think Brown can surprise with a Lead nom if Ryder goes supporting.

Even though Ryder is supporting, she has gotten in almost everywhere in lead, so I expect her to stay the same. Supporting will be easier so I do expect MBB to glo supporting. I don’t think Moore has a chance in lead, especially because nobody in her show is a lead. I would predict SK Brown though if that’s were he was submitted. The fact that he, a non veteran, got a sag nom for a supporting role on a new show is huge. But I think he is the only guy on his show with a chance, and he probobly knows it, so I bet he’ll go supporting.

So yes, I think it will be Ryder in lead, MBB in supporting, Moore in supporting, and Brown in supporting even though he could go lead

SK Brown will win if he gets supporting.

    Christine Baranski
    Claire Danes
    Viola Davis
    Claire Foy
    Elisabeth Moss
    Winona Ryder

I think it will be a relatively fresh lineup. Davis will be back after she wins the Oscar and Danes will be back because she’s always been stellar regardless of the show’s quality. I think House of Cards will start to fall out and Wright could be the surprise nominee that does. I think Russell is a one and done, unless the Academy increase the nominations for The Americans. Henson is good but I don’t think she’ll be back, I was actually surprised that she made it in the second time.

New nominees – Foy will definitely get in, it’ll be a huge shock to me if she’s snubbed. Ryder will be name checked for her supporting performance, I’m happy that they’ll recognise her though. If season 2 of Top of the Lake is as good as the first then Moss will gain the nomination. Baranski has proven she is popular amongst the academy gaining 10 nominations since 2009 and if her new show is on par with The Good Wife then she’ll be back.

My bad. Fixed it. It does make Wright stronger, not enough to overtake Ryder though.
