This category is crazy competitive IMO. Who do we think will make the cut?

Why is Jean Smart for Fargo there? I don’t agree with your order but this is a comprehensive list of the relevant names (although I hope to see a Leftovers actress on there!).

Newton, Metz and Moore are solid entries, and are my locks for getting noms.

stupid me I meant to put legion not Fargo. And I would love to see a Leftovers actress but I really doubt it. I’ll put King in over Siff maybe

I think Malcomson will shock people. The voters like ray Donovan. The voters at least know who she is because she’s been in everything, such as Deadwood. She’s worked with everybody and has never gotten proppedr recognition. She even had an amazing season. She would beat Newton on the episode system as she has a very baity where she deals with Cancer, protecting her family, accents, and a temper. If she gets in I will predict her to win (depending on how the rules change).

I don’t think Metz and Moore are solid entries. I think Thandie is as is MBB, but that’s it. I have a feeling This is Us will just be a repeat of Empire. They have moved passed network in Drama and I doubt This is Us will change things. Not even the best season of the good wife could change that. I would not be surprised if Sterling K Brown was the shows one nomination.

This category is so fucking competitive it’s unbelievable. There are so many great ladies and yes, Evan Rachel Wood and Thandie Newton are outstanding at playing robots on Westworld but no one, and I mean no one can even comes close to Gemma Chan. This probably the best performance of A.I. I’ve ever witnessed. And second season she’s even better than she was first! And she’s my personal win for both season. You just cannot take your eyes off her.

Gemma comes from my home town! I guess that makes me disloyal by saying I prefer Newton in Westworld….

    For now, I’m going:

    Winona Ryder, “Stranger Things”
    Chrissy Metz, “This Is Us”
    Thandie Newton, “Westworld”
    Constance Zimmer, “UnReal”
Uzo Aduba, “Orange is the New Black”
    Margo Martindale, “Sneaky Pete”

If Mandy Moore goes supporting, I’ll add her in either Zimmer or Martindale’s spot.

Empire never got SAG, WGA or ACE nominations.

Not broadcast, but technically Walking Dead got noms from all 3.

yes but part of that had to do with timing. Empire lost momentum because it embarrassed by the Emmys before guild awards. Also, This is Us was more fresh in the voters minds. And it didn’t get a top prize nomination at SAG or WGA.

Who would have thought that despite the absence of Downtown Abbey, Game of Thrones and The Good wife, this category would still be one of the most competitive ones out there? Can you imagine the bloodbath if Game of Thrones was airing its season in April-May-June??

Right now I have the following –

    1. Thandie Newton – Westworld (Critics win, GG Nod, SAG nod, guaranteed drama series nominee)

    2. Constance Zimmer – Unreal (Critics nod, returning nominee + With four open slots, I can’t imagine Zimmer getting dropped, and Unreal did get a writing nod as well)

    3. Millie Bobby Brown – Stranger Things (SAG nod was huge, show is overperforming everywhere, guaranteed drama series nominee)

    4. Uzo Aduba – Orange is the New Black (two-time winner, SAG nod, SAG ensemble, resurgent season, potential drama series nominee)

    5. Maura Tierny – The Affair (Critics choice, returning nominee, she’s more vulnerable than Zimmer, but with four open slots I feel like they’d default to her again)

    6. Danielle Brooks – Orange is the New Black (Tony nominee, raised profile, SAG ensemble, resurgent season, potential drama series nominee)

Spoilers – Vanessa Kirby – The Crown, Paula Malcomson- Ray Donovan, Lori Petty – Orange is the New Black, Samira Wailey – Orange is the New Black.

I’m pretty certain about the top 5, it’s that last slot that is totally up for grabs.

Can’t see Carly getting in after Slater was snubbed last year, Rhea Seahorne has no chance as the academy just isn’t watching Better Call Saul and I Won’t be predicting anyone from This is Us as the Emmys have just given up on network dramas and there isn’t any consensus between Moore and Metz.
