Aside from Bates not sure who else will fill this category.

Bates doesn’t even deserve a nom this year, and neither does Bassett. The only performer for “Hotel” (besides Paulson) who was truly Emmy worthy was Mare Winningham, who (even though she has a good episode and is an Emmy favorite/Oscar nominee), likely won’t be nominated.

Jean Smart and the ‘American Crime’ ladies are much more deserving.

The TV Academy is not giving up on its veteran divas to fill slots.

Why are you acting like Bates is a lock? She is pretty sure a bubble nominee. The only lock is Jean Smart and to a lesser extant Melissa Leo and Regina King

I think the Academy name checks her. Possible she could miss out but it feels improbable unless they’re done with American Horror Story.

American Horror Story got more nominations than ever last year, including six for acting. Kathy Bates has been nominated both seasons that she has been on and is an Oscar winner who was nominated recently for both seasons of Harry’s Law as a drama lead. American Crime Story has nobody worthy in her category. Even Critics’ Choice nominated her and they did it in lead.

I think Bates will be the only female from the cast nominated. Most are going with Paulson, but I think that her work on O.J. will totally overshadow it.

    My six
    Kathy Bates- AHS: Hotel
    Olivia Colman- The Night Manager
    Regina King- American Crime
    Melissa Leo- All the Way
    Cristin Milioti- Fargo
    Jean Smart- Fargo

I am pretty sure the final line up will be like this.

Uzo Aduba – The Wiz Live
Angela Bassett – American Horror Story: Hotel
Kathy Bates – American Horror Story: Hotel
    Melissa Leo – Confirmation
Sarah Paulson – American Horror Story: Hotel
    Jean Smart – Fargo

    – Spoiler/7th nominee: Regina King – American Crime

    – Both Winona Ryder and Catherine Keener can surprise as well, depending on Academy’s love for Show Me A Hero but I’m not holding my breath

I have Bates, Keener, King, Paquin, Paulson and Smart, with Smart a near-shoo-in for the victory.

I know Uzo is popular but I doubt she’ll become a double nominee this year.

Uzo would be a total name check. She did a fine job in The Wiz, but it is a very small role with the one scene, so not much impact.

You are giving too much credit to Academy members, they’ll see her name first in line and they’ll add her to their submission list immediately. I hope I am wrong and she only gets her usual nomination but I think she’ll be nominated three times this year.

Paulson’s performance on ‘Hotel’ is the worst of every season of AHS that she’s appeared in. Give her a deserved nomination for the O.J. movie, but let someone more deserving earn a nomination for supporting actress.

Remember when Holly Hunter scored an Oscar nom for her silly turn in The Firm, on account of all the buzz she received for The Piano? That’s basically what’ll happen with Paulson here.
