Since the Outstanding Voiceover Performance category was created several years back, you’d think that some of the most celebrated voiceover actors in the industry would finally get their due. Looking over the winners, however, I realized that there are a lot of unsung, and unseen for that matter, voiceover performers that have never even been nominated for this award. Many haven’t even been recognized at the Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program. Who are some particular voiceover actors that you think are overdue to win an Emmy? For me, these animation icons especially standout:

    Harry Shearer for The Simpsons
    Billy West for Futurama
Tom Kenny for Spongebob Squarepants and Adventure Time
Tress MacNeille for The Simpsons, Furturama, and various others
John DiMaggio for Futurama and Adventure Time
Kevin Conroy for Batman: The Animated Series
Dee Bradley Baker for American Dad
Tara Strong for Fairly Odd Parents
Jim Cummings for anything he’s ever done
Frank Welker for…well at this point we ought to just give him a lifetime achievement Emmy for crying out loud.

    H. Jon Benjamin for either Archer or Bob’s Burgers. Really the whole cast of Archer should get a special one bc it is so well done.

It’s a total crime that Harry Shearer, arguably the most talented of the six primary Simpsons actors, has never won an Emmy.

…and yes Dee Baker is overdue, but he’s arguably my least favourite of the rest of the American Dad! cast.

Billy West’s work in Futurama was the first that came to mind.

Definitely agree on these two – West is overdue for a nomination, for that matter.  However, I am under the impression Shearer’s and West’s problems are more political than talent-based.

Jim Cummings for anything he’s ever done

Except for Cat on CatDog, presumably.

Tom Kenny for Spongebob Squarepants and Adventure Time
Tress MacNeille for The Simpsons, Furturama, and various others
Dee Bradley Baker for American Dad
Tara Strong for Fairly Odd Parents

The problem with these four is, do they do more than one character – more to the point, more than one character that isn’t just a slightly different voice of their other characters?
